  2. Hello, I have a 1998 vw t4, the instrument cluster (plug in with clock on the right) has burnt out not repairable. I have scoured around for a few weeks now and found nothing. I was wondering if this model of van has the plug on the gear box still that I could install an older model with the cable and plug? Is this something someone has done? the cable version with the Rev counter seems to be in stock on eBay and such. I’m not even bothered if the Rev counter works just need a speedo I believe to get through Mot?

  4. Thanks for the reply, As you said, the car is absolutely fine to drive, it's just irritating having the yellow light staring at me! Good idea about the obd reader.
  5. That's a shame you're getting trouble with it already but they are a bit renowned for their warning lamps. Most will be okay to drive with such as Amber coloured lamps which are advisory but worth checking out at some point before the fault becomes more expensive to fix (e.g. brake pads low, etc) It may be worth your while to obtain an OBD scan tool which you can interrogate the warning lamps and read the codes yourself, quite cheap to buy and can lead to a greater understanding of what is occurring within the car Maybe someone on here can recommend a good one to buy?
  6. Hello, forum, Sorry about the lack of posts, had a lot going on personaly ! So an update was due! Firsty i really enoy driving the car, the higher driving position is lovley ( im in my 50s) andi can cope with the extra running costs as my old car was a 2014 civic diesel. But the sheer amount of warning lights is getting silly ! We have called it the VW christmas tree ! every other week is yellow light time ! Thankfully i got a years warrenty from the used car dealer where i got the car and they have been very good, so far i have had 2 ABS sensors replaced, the latest being today! So imagine my delight that this evening after picking the car up..... an hour later the engine managment light pops up ! I will give it a few days as i know they can be tempremental ! But coming from my honda that never had a single light appear in 5 years this Tiguan is starting to annoy me ! The car has never let me down and is lovely to drive, and very smooth and comfy. Is there something i could point my garage to have a look at? As i say the car drives perfectly and i really enjoy driving it, but these constant warning lights are getting annoying! Cheers Dan
  7. Hi, I’m having trouble changing the reversing bulb on the boot lid of my 2014 vw Passat estate. I remove the whole unit. Can access and remove both the brake light and light bulbs, however I can’t access the reversing bulb. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thank you
  8. not sure but would be good to try one and see if it works...let us know how you get on
  9. sounds like the immobiliser aerial by the ignition lock is not reading the key properly. I would take the car to a VW specialist for them to scan it and recode the key if necessary
  10. Hi....welcome to the Club Glad to hear the work was done under warranty and it useful to keep the cover running for as long as possible on some vehicles. Good to have you onboard!
  11. Hello I need to replace the mirror on my 2010 mk1 Touran and was wondering if the mirror off the face lift would fit ? They seem the same but wondering if fitment is the same ?

Hello, I’m after a genuine VW oil filter air filter and petrol pump from Mark 2F 1992 polo. Thanks
  13. Hi everyone, Recently my VW Touran has started acting strange. Initially, the remote stopped working (both keys) but I was not too fussed because I could still unlock the car manually from the door handle and turn on ignition etc and go about my day (none of the buttons worked on the remote, despite having a fresh battery installed). But just now, the car, after unlocking manually from the driver's side door, is not turning on at all. It just says "NO KEY" then "CHECK". The engine turns on for a few seconds and promptly turns off, even after trying to maintain accelerator. I have attached a video to give you a better understanding of what I am experiencing. VIDEO:
  14. This number is on a Retention Document with the transfer fee paid. It can go on cars after 1990 reg. year so includes many Hot Golfs. Search H 6OLF registration number , after 15th.
  15. Hi folks, I'm just introducing myself, Im T. I just bought an Touran 2.0 Match dsg auto box a couple of months ago. This is my first VW for over 40+ years. (last one was a 1962 lhd beetle) I love the Touran but it had to have a new flywheel because after a couple of weeks driving it, it developed well hell of a rattle, good job i bought an extended warranty at the same time, Its a 2010 plate reg only done 69000 since new, it is immaculate inside and just a very few marks on the exterior, already been touched and blended in. I think i paid over the odds for it but hey who's counting. It was dealers price but as soon as i test drove it, it was mine Anyhow nice to be on a forum so will post when i can. Pics will follow. T
  16. I hear a clunk sound, it comes from front where the storage compartment is and it’s not continuous. I hear this soft clunk sound once or twice in a journey, and I don’t let it bother me too much. sometimes I notice it even when the car has been turned off. I have always assumed that it has sometime to do with car temperature I don’t know why I think that 🤷‍♂️.
  17. more than likely an ABS sensor on the wheels, which one is another ballgame as you'll need to scan the ABS system to determine which one has failed
  18. Hi my 60 plate touran has a issue abs light is on aswell as trackshan control is on
  19. I would definitely check the control unit under the passenger floor as this is usually affected by water ingress and also takes out the wiring which will need replacing
  20. Hi .... welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard
  21. Just chopped in a 124k 2013 2.0 TDI Passat for a 2019 1.5tsi Tiguan. Looking forward to getting to know the car.
  22. I've been able to order the the rubber carb mounting plate, so will fit that when it arrives. P/n 030129765 From the parts list, it call the screw, 'CO balance adjustment' I now see there is an idle mixture screw on the other side of the carb, so will have to fiddle with these two once the plate and air leak is fixed. Is there a downloadable page for the carb settings?. I see now the engine is a HZ. I also need a part number for the vacuum capsule on the Bosch distributor, the diaphragm in it is not holding a vacuum, but I think once I get the Bosch number off the distributor I might find the p/n for the capsule, unless anybody knows it pls.
  23. Having seen that water leaks are common on Passat's I have carried out the recommended actions on my 2004 car and cleaned out the drain hole and replaced the seal around the filter house. Next is to dry out the carpets. I am reluctant to disturb the CCM box as the only issue with the car is the central locking which only works with the manual door lock and the drivers door interior light is not working. Any suggestions please, can I make things worse by touching it and can the current faults be something else within the door CL system. Thank you for any suggestions.
  24. I would be tempted to smear some sealant but not silicon as this can be drawn into the intake (used to use Red Hermatite) Not sure of the adjusting screw....can you upload a photo of it and the location in the pipe
  25. Usually with Japanese import vehicles, they go through an auction house and are issued with a very comprehensive report on condition. This should be available to view from the dealer before you commit to purchase. As far as I am aware the mileages are low as generally the roads are not vast and unable to achieve high speeds and distances.
  26. I helping a friend with a problem with his carburettor on this Polo, its the 1050 engine 40 hp, it seems the rubber gasket under the carburettor is now leaking air, as we cannot get the engine to idle, it just dies. If I press down on the carb it will idle, so must be an air leak. I'm also looking a manual for setting up this carburettor, or the settings/adjustments its a Pierburg. There appears to be an adjusting screw where a vacuum line comes from the vacuum pipe to the brake servo, any help here would be useful please. Whats its purpose? Is it an anti run on devise? John
