  1. Thanks for the advice - things getting towards sorted now. I highlighted the tyres and they put 4 matching new ones on earlier in the week. They're blaming human error for me needing to chase that after 2 supposed Das Welt Auto checks... and they're covering the cost of me getting the car properly valeted. Disappointing service, but I do at least love the car.
  2. Afternoon all, I'm a first-time VW Owner and bought a VW Tiguan Mk1 (I think it's a Mk1 - 13 plate) around 2 weeks ago from a VW Dealer here in South Wales under the Das Welt Auto scheme. It's been a bit of a nightmare so far... I bought from VW expecting a better quality of service and decent customer service it's not been great. After giving them an extra day to "prepare the car really nicely" the car I picked it up a little over 10 days ago it transpired the car had been really badly valeted (think algae around the panoramic roof rubbers, dog hair galore behind and to the sides of the back seat, sticky gunk built up in the door pockets and drink holders etc etc. There was also no screenwash at all in the reservoir despite it allegedly passing an MOT the previous day... The dealership tried to claim the air con must have broken down in the 2 miles I drove before noticing and calling them... but agreed that it would all be put right and I could arrange my own valet and they'd reimburse and they'd get the air con resolved ASAP... Both the air-con and the windscreen washers were part of the 142 Das Welt Auto checks that should have been done before putting a warranty on the car... Long story short they messed me around couldn't fix the air con or even look at it for nearly 2 weeks and were generally blaming everything from bad luck to short staffing for all the issues. Eventually after speaking to VW directly I was referred to a 'brand manager' based at a different branch of the same franchisee who had the car collected from me, brought me a Mk2 to borrow while it was all sorted... He said they'd re-run all the mechanical checks make sure it's all spot on and then get it properly valeted. A week later (yesterday) I got the call that my car was all sorted - new air con condenser, new rear springs, new wipers about the lot mechanically. Valet was done - better than last time but still a rushed job with lots of muck left under the rear seats when slid forward, and polish smeared all over the badges/chromes... mechanically no complaints really the air con is now working and the car is driving fine. I then looked at the paperwork for the re-run Das Welt Auto check and noticed a few oddities... The whole section on tyres has been skipped. No recording of depths/condition etc. I then went to look at the tyres and noticed for the first time that there's two different brands on the car. Dunlops front, Continentals on the rear. The Das Welt Auto checklist says: "Four Wheel Drive; 4Motion: All four wheels must always be fitted with tyres of the same type, make and tread pattern" Should I be concerned that this is not the case? Additionally some of the checks that should have applied to the vehicle have been skipped: * Check stop/start operation * Check park assist operation * Check handbrake operation * Check centre support bearing (4Motion driveshaft) * Check differential/self locking centre differential How concerned should I be? I love the car, and particularly the colour which is all that's stopped me accepting a full refund and buying elsewhere (it's not a colour I can find in this spec elsewhere), but the service has been so poor so far I'm wondering if I should be looking at other brands... Any advice? Cheers Steve
