Rocking motion from side to side of Passat Estate

I have a 2016 Passat SE TD Business 2016 Estate Car.  A friend who frequently travels in my car has suffered a concussion incident recently that may have caused a brain injury. She reports that she is badly affected by a side to side rocking motion which she likens to a rocking boat. Also that my car is shaken by almost every bump on an uneven road surface and she feels it badly. I also feel it, but I am not shaken and to me it is just part of the normal process of the suspension absorbing the shocks from the uneven surface.

I should say that she had no concern about the uneven riding before the concussion incidents. She has also been a passenger in a 2013 Seat Mii automatic 999cc belonging to another friend and reports that she does not have the same experience in that car. This bad experience in my car usually leads to her having painful headaches one or two days later.

I took my car in for its MOT at a VW franchised service centre a few weeks ago and it passed first time. Nevertheless I asked for a 360 Video VHC Inspection and a 4 wheel alignment check where minor adjustments were required. I have agreed to take the car back again to the garage for a further check(possibly a diagnostic one). However if nothing wrong is found what should I ask for. Has anyone else had an experience similar to this or any ideas as to what could cause this side to side rocking motion and bumpy ride ?

Hi.....welcome to the Forum

I would say it is weak suspension components (springs and dampers)

The springs absorb the shock from road surfaces and the dampers absorb the oscillations from the springs so it doesn't bounce constantly.

The tyres also are a shock absorber so if these are low on air they can also give a bouncy ride.
If the tyres are cheap (Chinese manufacture) then change these immediately as they are probably causing this issue.

Let us know what you find to be the issue
