    The rear wheel brake calliper was stuck to the brake pad yesterday when departing in my Passat hybrid GTE. The car had been standing unused for 2 days. There was a strange noise and a consistent thudding coming from the wheel so I stopped and returned home.

    Any comments?

      You will need to remove the caliper and pads to see what is binding

      Thanks. The car is with VW Battersea. They’ve done that and have ordered new calliper/pad from VW. The car is still within it’s warranty (2 years old, 12,500 miles) but VW refused to pay. Battersea kindly went into battle and achieved a 70/30 compromise with them. That’s Battersea/VW, I think.

    Hi, I bought my new hybrid Passat GTE last year and we’re very pleased with it. Can anyone tell me, as battery technology improves will VW give owners the opportunity to exchange their old battery for a new one with greater range?
