  2. They sell flexipipes separately in most motor factors just select the length and diameter of the section you need and very cheap to replace
  3. I believe (depending on camera and display types) that you can either connect through Bluetooth or through hard wiring the camera which means the wires need to be laid across the length of the car to communicate with the display

  5. To be honest I've no idea, but there are a lot of variables. Are you doing the work yourself, where about in the Country are you, what quality parts etc. I would suggest searching a couple of online suppliers, see what work is involved and get a couple of quotes from local garages.
  6. The 2020 Volkswagen Passat interior fuse box is located behind a panel on the driver's side, typically to the left of the steering column or behind a small storage compartment below the light switch. You may need to pull the storage bin/cover to access the fuses.

  8. Thanks for your reply. Might do it when I get it serviced as it seems that if they use their diagnostic tool, units requiring software updates are highlighted.
  9. Hi Is there a reset procedure after fitting a new battery, or do I need diagnostic ?
  10. I found some almost new buttons and wiring loom so I'm going to try and get them in the original wheel. Leather wheel and definitely removable blanks where the buttons fit in. I think I have all the kit I need and even bought an OBDeleven to try and get them working. No doubt this but will be a bit of a faff. Thanks for your help 🙂 Wish me luck!
  11. bit of luck more like :-)
  12. Thats a positive outcome for you then - not so much for the car :-(
  13. Norfolk seems to have exhausted its supply of anything MK4 related. I fear I’m the last of a dying breed 😂
  14. Have you got a photo of the radio and switch so we can see the clearance, etc
  15. Hi .... welcome to the Club The older Passat was a great car although it did have its issues (namely the ECU under the passenger footwell that used to flood with water and a few other issues). The modern Passat seems miles away from its predecessor and hopefully you won't need to wield a spanner in anger during your ownership. Good to have you onboard!
  16. Not entirely sure but it seems to be temperature related - if the climate control is switched on then this may have a bearing on why it alters settings once warmed up
  17. my dad just sold his 2002 (think it was) passat, He had it 18 years, never a problem. Still pulls like a train. he had 2 cars and decided to keep the modern one and pass the passat on. They really were bullet proof. Yes now and again a puff of black smoke when giving it some but that adds to the charm.
  18. I recently purchased a used VW Golf 1.5 and when I contacted the dealership (as they have to be the ones to use the software unlocks) I was quoted £200 for apps unlock and a FURTHER £380 for the voice unlock. So nearly £600 pounds for what, in all honesty, I consider a minor addition to use Android auto and limited voice commands. When I researched this I found that that there are on-line companies who will send you the appropriate usb stick to fully unlock your infotainment system. The cheapest I have seen was £100. I have had the car about five weeks now and I am still thinking it over because it is a great car as it is and in all honesty as it is a 2018 registration the tech inside is older anyway, for example it requires a 3G network and can't connect now that we have moved onto newer network standards. So sometimes it is best to accept that the cost/benefit sometimes is not worth it.
  19. It does sound like the park position is not being recognised by the motor. First thing to check is the wiring going into the tailgate from the back of the roof which sometimes breaks where the wires bend with the opening and closing of the boot. Pull back any rubbers to see if there are any broken wires.
  20. Ah that would make sense! Thank you for sharing the feedback and sure someone will come across this problem (and solution) in the future. Glad you got it sorted - nice simple and cheap fix !
  21. Automatic transmissions do have a 'take up' within the drivetrain but equally it could be low on fluid or require a fluid and filter change. I would recommend to take to an automatic transmission specialists (may be difficult to find and may not be local) but definitely worth getting them to check it out before it potentially gets any worse
  22. Sorry for the delay in replying. Thank you, i will take a look tomorrow 👍
  23. A further update on our imported Passat. No issues at all, everything is running spot on as it was when we purchased it. I have however managed to resolve a minor inconvenience with car insurance websites not finding our registration plate (it's due for renewal so I started searching around a week ago). It's worth stating that I don't know if this should have been done by the DVLA, or the dealership that imported our vehicle. First I contacted the DVLA, as I'd wrongly assumed this is where the insurance companies would pull the registration plate from. They told me they sell the data to various 'bulk data companies' but would not tell me which companies unless I submitted a freedom of information request (despite them admitting it was public information anyway). I contacted one company (MIB) who couldn't help me, but explained the process a bit. There is a DVLA Bulk Data Set document which lists all the data sharing companies at the bottom, these companies buy the data from the DVLA, and I gather then sell it to the various car insurance companies. I sent the same email to all of them requesting if our car could be added to the database. One of the companies advised me to contact Thatcham, as they are primarily responsible for linking all the vehicle data to an insurance ABI code (which is what the data sharing companies use and share with the insurance companies when you type your reg in on the insurance website) All of the replies I had wanted the details below, so probably best to add it in with your initial email. Make: Model: Transmission: Number of forward gears: Fuel Type: Engine size (CC): Body Shape (Saloon, convertible for example) Number of doors: Drive Type (FWD, RWD, AWD): Power (KW or BHP): Seating capacity: Email address for Thatcham, and the data sharing companies below that wanted the car details and ABI code (the others either didn't reply or told me they weren't relevant for insurance websites) Customer.enquiries@thatcham.org, businessuk@experian.com, enquiry@infopro-digital.com, help@ukvehicledata.co.uk DVLA Bulk Data.pdf
  24. not sure if it is turbocharged but if so then it is more than likely a hole or split in the pressure side of the turbo or intercooler
  25. Thank you very much, very helpful.👍
  26. Looks amazing original condition - what a great car from a really good era for car manufacturing. Make sure you check under the passenger floor area for any water ingress into the ECU that is in there
