  2. Hi Is there a reset procedure after fitting a new battery, or do I need diagnostic ?
  3. Yesterday
  4. Yes the above brands are fine, especially Yuasa
  5. Last week
  6. I found some almost new buttons and wiring loom so I'm going to try and get them in the original wheel. Leather wheel and definitely removable blanks where the buttons fit in. I think I have all the kit I need and even bought an OBDeleven to try and get them working. No doubt this but will be a bit of a faff. Thanks for your help 🙂 Wish me luck!
  7. Thanks for that. Yuasa, Exide or Varta seem to be about the best, Price / Pound as it where ? Cheaper ones seem to be own brand type and others seem to be a lot more expensive.
  8. As the engine is small capacity and the demands on the Stop/Start are relatively low then an EFB battery should be fine - just ensure you don't compromise on the brand and as a rule a cheap battery is lightweight and a more expensive battery of the same specifications is heavier - I would go for the best quality one for your money
  9. Theshed started following Battery Type
  10. My Daughters 1.0 L Polo needs a Battery. It is a Stop-Start and currently has an AGM Battery. Halfords list both AGM and EFB for this model. EFB seem to be cheaper with more choice. Does it matter what type I fit ? I used a standard Lead Acid on Wife's Nissan and that works fine, but she does not use the Stop/Start function. Random info' ! Thanks

  12. Hi @Mikey Good to have you onboard ! As far as I can determine if the replacement wheel suits the car and the Airbag is correct for the vehicle and wheel then it should be a straightforward swap. Disconnect the battery negative terminal and leave for at least 30 minutes. Remove the air bag and store with the pad facing upwards on the floor out of the way. Use a breaker bar or similar to loosen the centre nut but leave the nut on by a few threads - use you palms to whack the underside of the wheel and it should come loose - now you still have your front teeth as the nut will hold it back from the steering wheel smacking you in the face (trust me I only ever did it the once). Disconnect all wiring and be careful with the SRS Rotary Coupling that it does not move from its position or gets damaged - also do not turn the steering wheel from the position it was removed from. Prior to removing I should have said that it is an idea to use Tippex to mark the original position of the wheel on the steering column shaft so it goes on in exactly the same place
  13. Hi New on here and the proud new owner of B6 estate 2.0 TDI 170 SEL. Plenty of toys on there to be going on with but what I really miss are the steering wheel buttons from my old car. I was looking on eBay for a second hand wheel and there's plenty out there. I just wondered though, is is plug and play or do I need some kind of addition control unit ? The original is like new so I'm very reluctant to actually change it but if I find the right one in good condition I'll be a happy bunny. Assuming the swap would also be an easy thing? Disconnect battery etc..... Thanks in advance
  14. bit of luck more like :-)
  15. Thats a positive outcome for you then - not so much for the car :-(
  16. Bit late I know. But I removed battery to replace water pump and screen stopped playing up when reconnected. Battery reset or luck ? 🤔
  17. The GTE was finally taken off us as the fault could not be found and dealership gave us a replacement car. As its no longer on the DVLA website so must assumenits been scrapped.
  18. Norfolk seems to have exhausted its supply of anything MK4 related. I fear I’m the last of a dying breed 😂
  19. Hopefully someone on here VCDS can help you out with this
  20. Alright folks. I’m looking for someone that can activate the cruise control on my PD150. I’m in Norfolk but happy to travel.
  21. Have you got a photo of the radio and switch so we can see the clearance, etc
  22. 23. Hi .... welcome to the Club The older Passat was a great car although it did have its issues (namely the ECU under the passenger footwell that used to flood with water and a few other issues). The modern Passat seems miles away from its predecessor and hopefully you won't need to wield a spanner in anger during your ownership. Good to have you onboard!
  24. Not entirely sure but it seems to be temperature related - if the climate control is switched on then this may have a bearing on why it alters settings once warmed up
  25. my dad just sold his 2002 (think it was) passat, He had it 18 years, never a problem. Still pulls like a train. he had 2 cars and decided to keep the modern one and pass the passat on. They really were bullet proof. Yes now and again a puff of black smoke when giving it some but that adds to the charm.
  26. I recently purchased a used VW Golf 1.5 and when I contacted the dealership (as they have to be the ones to use the software unlocks) I was quoted £200 for apps unlock and a FURTHER £380 for the voice unlock. So nearly £600 pounds for what, in all honesty, I consider a minor addition to use Android auto and limited voice commands. When I researched this I found that that there are on-line companies who will send you the appropriate usb stick to fully unlock your infotainment system. The cheapest I have seen was £100. I have had the car about five weeks now and I am still thinking it over because it is a great car as it is and in all honesty as it is a 2018 registration the tech inside is older anyway, for example it requires a 3G network and can't connect now that we have moved onto newer network standards. So sometimes it is best to accept that the cost/benefit sometimes is not worth it.
  27. Ah that's amazing! I'm really glad I got another glimpse of it at least. And what a trooper of a car. Moon mileage! Of course your mum has a very willing buyer in waiting if & when she wants to move it on.
  28. Hi folks, just saying hello. I previously owned an older (2005) Passat that I had to sell years ago to trade down to a small engine car and assist my son (firstly) to get insurance and then my daughter after him when she also passed her test. However, they are experienced drivers these days and after owning a 3 series BMW for the last few years, I have decided to return to VW and since just before Christmas, I am now the proud owner of a 2016 Passat SE Business 2.0 TDI BMT. Its a lot more refined than my previous Passat but alas Android Auto hasn't been configured so I'll be digging into this forum to look for advice and pointers to get this set up as I really enjoyed it in my Bimmer. Needless to say, I'd prefer not to have to pay VW to do it as the price will be typically extortionate. So thanks for adding me as I know car forums can save me a lot of money by their invaluable advice and experience and whilst I'm no mechanic, I have a decent toolkit and I'm not afraid to have a go at basic stuff. I'm from Newry, Co. Down btw.
  29. Hi all. I have a 2013 Passat Alltrack. The heater is playing up. When i set off, all is OK. About 10 minutes into a journey the heater stops blowing through the vents. The fan is still working. If I stop and push random heater control buttons it all works again. 10 minutes into the journey, all stops again. It's as if the vents are closing. I changed the pollen filter and it worked for about an hour, then all stop again. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
