Hi, I have a 2009 Golf V 2.0 TDI and need to change the starter motor. How do I prevent losing all the codes when I have to disconnect the battery? I don't have a plug-in diagnostic reader to reset anything and wouldn't know how to use one. If I lose the codes how do I find out what they were or is there a default setting? As you can tell I don't have any knowledge about codes as my mechanical skills are centred around vehicles from the 60s to the 80s. Thanks in advance for any advice. Rupert

Hi all just joined up to see if owners alike are experiencing any similar issues or have any suggestions. A few months ago I bought a 2021 VW Golf R-Line Estate. I love it apart from one issue which is brake squeal from the front brakes. This always happens after driving for about 5 minutes and only when light braking. Its very annoying! The noise occurred on the original VW standard disc and pad set which were only 50% worn (car has only done 23K). I have changed the discs, pads and the 8 metal calliper shims for genuine VW parts. I have also cleaned/ wire brushed/ re-greased the brake calliper and slide pins but the squealing noise still happens (new pads…

The passenger handle to adjust the seat height keeps falling off. From what I can see nothing is broken. It pushes back on but never really grips. Has anybody else had this?

I’ve purchased a 2023/2024 Model year Golf 1.5 TSI (150) with a manual gearbox and I’m having issues when changing gears (1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd). I’m experiencing a hesitation in the response from the engine when I’m in the process of changing up and releasing the clutch. I’m having to reactivate the clutch until the engine responds which is resulting in a very jerky not smooth gear change. I’m aware from carrying out some research that this has been an ongoing issue with the 1.5 TSI Evo engine from when it was introduced in the Golf 7 especially with the manual gearbox. Hi, does anyone have experience of using these please? My brand new Golf got 'dinged' on its very first outing in a public car park and I don't want to have to keep getting a 'paintless repair' done each time this happens - as it surely will over time!

I have a mk 8.5 e-hybrid , 1 week old and cannot produce warm air from the climate system , i have tried with air con on and off , e-mode , hybrid mode, Sport mode, comfort mode and via infotainment screen and direct with climate button drive the car for up to 1 hour but only cold air comes from the fans / vents and although the infotainment screen indicates red and warn air should be coming out - it simply remains cold air, the dealership indicated i should reset the infotainment screen - which i have done several times but this did not fix the problem - have any other e-hybrid owners had similar issues / suggest a fix , i dont have time to leave the car back to dealers…

Help needed please! I'm on the verge of ordering my new golf (r line estate) but have been unable to find "samples" of the colours I'm interested in. Unfortunately my local dealer has no cars of the right colours in stock,nor do they have any colour samples. The colours Im interested in are dolphin grey and the oyster silver if anyone can help? I've tried using the vehicle configuration tool on the website but it doesn't give particularly good results!

Good morning. I am after a little bit of advise please. A couple of months ago my dad gave me his old car, it is a golf mk5 2,0TDI 4 motion. He owned it for the last 15 years ,it has fully VW service history with 68,000mile on the clock. I do not need another car so i am going to sell it, looking on line I have only found a couple for sale and for around £4000.i am wondering if any one can help me price it correctly or if anyone is interested in buying it from me. Hi I’ve got a m8 golf and when I purchased the it around a year and half ago. The voice control worked, however about 6 months ago it stopped working. When you press the button the icon appears on the screen, I say eg “ call James” she’s says pardon and then proceeds to give me a tutorial! The deal ships said they needed to update the system which has happened and still doesn’t work! any ideas? Many thanks

Hi all. After any info on the 2.0 tdi se estate looking at buying one 2018 80k on the clock for around 10500. Anything to look out for? What are the engines like? Real world mpg? For commuting between 30-60mph 1 hr drive. Whats the deal with cambelt / water pump intervals as I came from skoda where they changed it now to visual only until around 100 000k Any info please thanks

Evening Folks I have recently put in an order for the new Golf GTE. I am in the process of getting a charging station fitted. I have been recommended to fit a BG SYNC EV station, with the WiFi turned off. This would be due to a poor signal where I am. Is it possible to start and stop charge times from the car, so I can use night tariffs? Any help, would be much appreciated. Dave

I have 2015 2.0 tdi vw golf I can’t use apps and voice, as I need activation key. Would like to use apple play on car and voice commands for phone. Been told It cost about £400 from vw, and a cheaper sd card from vision coding voids any warranties. want to be able plug phone in for charging at times and use wireless at other times. Looking for cheaper options can you please help or direct me to someone who can. thanks Dave

Hello, I don't know if anyone knows why my front wheels locked on my Golf? Drove to work fine, then tried to drive away in the evening and the front wheels are completely locked up. It goes into gear fine, and the will move an inch in reverse before stalling. There is fluid leakage, possibly gearbox? Any advice appreciated. Mechanic at garage wants to replace the entire gearbox. Hi. I have a mk6 golf saloon off side wing for sale. It's just been sprayed but I hadn't realised a golf estate front end is different to a golf saloon. Also I have a bumper in new paint for sale and one not in paint which is damaged but repairable. Please message me if you're interested in either. Hi, I'm having trouble finding the right information online so I thought I would ask in here. I'm looking to raise the motor in my 2011 Golf 1.6 Tdi 66kW to accommodate for slamming my car. I can't seem to find any information on the OEM engine mount bolts. I will obviously need to replace them with longer bolts but I'm having trouble finding the specs for the OEM ones. On top of this, I'm not sure how many of the OEM bolts I will need to replace with the longer ones. If anybody has any information that could help me, it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hi, I’m needing a bit of advice, I have a 69 plate Bluemotion Golf. I’ve just had the first MOT done and 3 advisory’s came up. Offside front, near side rear and offside rear all have a light misting of oil on the shock absorbers. I’m not 100% sure what this means? My cars done 20k so not loads of miles, should I be worried? And do I need to get this fixed immediately? The guy at the MOT centre said it’s nothing to worry about but I’m not convinced. Thanks 🙂

I have a 65 plate golf and recently had the timing belt changed. The exhaust light has since kept coming on, but when linked up to a diagnostics machine, nothing shows up. It's otherwise running OK. Any ideas?
