The VW dealership, at Western Newbridge Edinburgh, has just charged £1,375 for replacing a burnt out clutch on my elderly mothers car. The dealer claims there was consequential damage to the flywheel requiring new parts. Here's the thing - the car is not doing many miles and after 3 years on the road is still only at 15,500 miles.
I've asked around and it's not common that a new flywheel is required in such a young low mileage vehicle. It seems rather than clean up the flywheel, a new part has been fitted as a matter of course. A little disappointed given the extra cost this puts on the bill.
Polite, professional service otherwise. But unlikely to use the dealer for repairs ever again.
