I’ve purchased a 2023/2024 Model year Golf 1.5 TSI (150) with a manual gearbox and I’m having issues when changing gears (1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd). I’m experiencing a hesitation in the response from the engine when I’m in the process of changing up and releasing the clutch. I’m having to reactivate the clutch until the engine responds which is resulting in a very jerky not smooth gear change. I’m aware from carrying out some research that this has been an ongoing issue with the 1.5 TSI Evo engine from when it was introduced in the Golf 7 especially with the manual gearbox. There are numerous articles on the web about this with customers referring to a juddering Kangooring effect. One article from a well known motoring publication reports this has been an ongoing issue with this engine and reports VW have said “it was aware of reports from customers complaining that some vehicles featuring the 1.5 litre TSI Evo engine with manual gearbox can be slightly hesitant in the the cold-running phase” They say VW insisted it was a rare issue and promised owners it was developing a solution but had yet to deliver. It went on to say that VW have released various engine management software updates over the years in an attempt to resolve the issue but to this day it has never been fully resolved.
Would anyone else on here have experience of the same issue and if so did they get it resolved and if so how and when.
I would be most grateful if anyone can help me because I don’t believe I will be able to keep the car unless I can get a resolution to this. Otherwise I really like the car and will be very disappointed if I need to reject it.
