  3. mk6 golf exhaust?

Hi, thanks for reply but it seems this part is only available from VW dealers! ( hence reason I wondered if the MK5 silencer would fit with minor mods)
  4. Mk5 r32

Hi Rob Common problem this one, but can't seem to find any definitive answer but suggested faults lie in the Haldex controller or even the oil level being low in the unit....worth checking out everything related to the electrical connections to and from the unit. Let us know what you find
  5. Auxiliary port location

    Thank you very much.

  7. Polo radio code

Hi You should be able to obtain the code from a local VW dealer.....may have to go in for them to look it up and take the registration documents with you but otherwise they usually do this for free
  8. Polo spluttering on pull off

I would check for a vacuum leak as this could cause the symptoms you describe. Listen for any hissing under the bonnet
  9. Front coil spring

Hi Andy Have a look at these springs on Euro Car Parts they all say with or without sports suspension (Sportline) so I would say that this is the only limiting factor to choosing a replacement unless you go for lowered springs. https://www.eurocarparts.com/coil-spring Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  10. Hi all - advice / suggestions needed

Hi ....welcome to the Forum The only simple solution I can think of is Airbag suspension as a bolt on which would raise the vehicle and maintain the ride height Beyond that, sorry cannot think of any other way
  11. Passat 2012 est

  12. Looking to purchase a VW T4

Cathy Feel free to post up some pics of the T4 and let us know how you get on with converting it to a camper
  13. High clutch bite point

Hi Depends on the year and model of VW as some would have a self adjusting method for actuating the clutch.....it could be that which has altered over a period of time. Just watch the pedal doesn't drop to the floor which is also a common fault on some models
  14. Vw Passat 2012 automatic gearbox software update

Hi Niall....welcome to the forum It suggests that there is an issue with the engine and its gone into Limp Home mode. I would scan any fault codes after clearing the memory to see if it is current or just a glitch. Let us know how it goes
  15. Hello, Am new to the forum. Today my Passat 2012 2.0diesel automatic displayed the ignition coil symbol and lost power. Car does not go over 40mph now and feels like the clutch is slipping. My mechanic ran the computer on the car and picked up fault code p1741. He told me I need be to update my gearbox software. Can anyone shine some light on this, as I am very worried at this stage and lost for what to do. Is this costly and who should I contact. Many thanks niall.
  16. Hello!

Hi Harry....welcome to the Forum Good to have you onboard Post up a pic of the Polo when you get it
  17. A/C vs climatronic question

Hi...welcome to the Forum Simple answer.....I'm not sure! What are the benefits of replacing the system?
  18. Lupo problem

Seized linkage joints? Worn engine mounts? Play in linkages? Clutch worn or damaged? So many possible causes, I would drop it in a garage to have it checked out before you can't select gears anymore.
  19. Evening all ✋🤙🏼🤙🏼

Hi Brent.....welcome to the Forum definitely a VW man then ! Good to have you onboard
  20. Vr6 issues

Hi....welcome to the Forum The fact that it is 'on song' at higher revs suggests that it is something like a vacuum/air leak in the in the inlet manifold or associated trunking which is causing the lumpy running. A quick emissions test (Oxygen levels) which if higher than zero suggests thats the fault. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers, Trevor
  21. Spares

Hi Dave If you list them in the appropriate section (e.g. Golf, Polo, etc) that would be the best bet Cheers
  22. Rear window glass

Hi Edward....welcome to the Forum I would be surprised if you couldn't obtain a replacement glass through an automotive glasiers (windscreen company local to you). Maybe special order and could take some time to come through but not impossible to source Let us know what you find
  23. Mk7.5 golf gtd

Hi Chris...welcome to the Forum Sorry for the late reply, missed this post. You could try to close off the 'Fresh Air' vents in the heating system to just allow cabin temperature to remain constant as opposed to outside air affecting the balance (e.g. cold outside + warmer inside = condensation) Let us know what you find works to resolve this Cheers, Trevor
  24. New Polo purchase on the cards

Had the test drive today and have gone for an SE in reflex silver. DSG gearbox was pure silk. Collect on 3rd August! Thanks for the input.
  25. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132701450814 Happy to take any offers on this car - just send on through! Selling because it just failed its MOT. However we were very much undecided whether to fix it up or give up on it. Apart from the issues listed below, the car is in a good state. She's never broken down on us once and has been driving brilliantly. The interior is a bit worn, but in line with her age. The failing points from the MOT are below: Nearside Front Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Offside Front Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Nearside Rear Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Offside Rear Brake disc significantly and obviously worn (1.1.14 (a) (i)) Exhaust emits excessive dense blue smoke during acceleration (8.2.1.2 (g)) Getting the brakes fixed was estimated at about 300. Our main concern was the exhaust emission / engine burning oil. The garage wasn't sure what it was. They offered to run diagnostics on it but said they wouldn't be able to tell what the issue was until then and with the other issues listed below, we took the decision not to proceed and sell on for spares or repairs instead. The main other issues with the car are: 1: Drivers side electric window motor has gone. Needs new one. Because of this, the roof isn't currently going down, but we've had this checked out at the garage and they confirmed that the only issue was the drivers side window - this needs to go down before the roof mechanism can then retract. Estimate for parts and labour to fix was 400, but if you can get spare motor from elsewhere / scrapped car then should be easily fixable. If car has passed MOT, we were all set to get this repaired immediately. 2: Slow puncture on right rear tyre. Just needs new tyre. Others are fine - all tyres were replaced just last year. 3: Drivers seat has a split in the upholstery, as can be seen in the photos above. 4: Passenger side door - the mechanism that holds the door open has weakened so it oftens closes itself. 5: Boot hatch - works fine but doesn't stay fully upright when opened - the mechanism has weakened a bit so it drops a little from the fully open position. 6: Interior - felt under the roof mechanism has come loose. Plastic part inside rear that lifts to make neat seal when roof is down has come loose - we still have it but needs reattaching. 7: Engine management warning light stays on on dashboard. It has sporadically gone on and off, but seems to be on more than off at the moment. Other than these issues though, we've been very much enjoying driving her. The engine has seemed fantastic to us - we've taken her on many drives across the country, such as from South Coast to Wales and back, to north of England etc. Never any problems at all and the driving has been smooth, with good acceleration. We were absolutely all set to repair the window and tyre and hoped to have her for a few more years yet, but the MOT results has swung us towards just buying a newer car now instead. If you know what you're doing though to fix the engine (perhaps just flushing the engine through might be enough!) then this could truly be a great bargain of a car! Car is currently parked up on a road near us where parking is free. Obviously with no MOT we can't move it so you'll need to be able to come and pick her up. The place where she's parked is very easily accessible though to tow her. Otherwise she starts and drives brilliantly still, so if you're in effect taking her to work on her and MOT her, I think maybe you can drive her there even though she doesn't have MOT (you'll need to check the law on this one)..
