  2. Hey everyone, I'm in the market for a used car and keep seeing references to vehicle history reports like Carfax or AutoCheck. Some sellers offer them upfront, while others don’t mention it at all. How much weight should I give to these reports when making a decision? What red flags should I look for, and are there any reliable alternatives to these services? Also, can a clean history still hide potential issues? I'd love to hear your experiences or any tips for evaluating a vehicle's background before buying.

  4. I would take it back to address the issue with them - if they were willing to acknowledge the fault and replace components then the liability is with them However it could just be a case of reprogramming the vehicle electronic systems to resolve this issue?
  5. If the screen is provided by a reputable company then it should be of equal quality to the OE part. However, if you have ADAS sensors fitted to the windscreen then take it to Autoglass or similar as they would have to reprogramme the system

  7. Hey everyone, I need to replace the windshield on my vehicle and I'm torn between going with an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) windshield or a cheaper aftermarket option. I've heard mixed opinions about the quality and fit of aftermarket glass, and I’m also wondering if there's any impact on features like rain sensors or lane departure systems. Has anyone here had experience with both? Is the price difference worth it? Also, how important is it to go with a certified installer? I'd appreciate any insights or recommendations before I make a decision
  8. We are looking for help for a continuing issue with our VW Passat GTE Hybrid 1.4 2021 reg. Since we have owned it, just 12 months, it has had a recurring issue with the Braking and has been into the dealership a few times to get it checked and every time it has been 'we cant find anything wrong'.I have several very close encounters with pedestrians and being unable to stop at low speed when the vehicle continues to drive/drag forward. Since May the vehicle has had the AA VW Assist out to check this braking problem and they found an intermittent fault with the braking system. The AA also diagnosed an issue with the Differential grinding. So it was taken into the VW dealership we purchased it from with dash cam footage and a Warranty Claim for a new Differential and Gearbox, as they are a complete unit, a New Braking Boost Unit was replaced at a cost of £11,220! So we had a hire car for 6 weeks whilst this process was carried out. We were shocked that VW HQ actually approved this Warranty Claim to be honest it would have been cheaper to change the vehicle. So yesterday after having the car back for some 10 days, we were out driving and low and behold the brakes did exactly the same thing again and we were unable to stop the car sliding yet again. Has anyone else had this issue as it is becoming so dangerous now and we feel we have had enough of this continuing anxiety and have lost faith in the vehicle now. What would you do in these circumstances?

  10. Hi, Could anyone tell me the VW interval for the timing belt? Cheers pete
  11. Hello everyone. I'm considering swapping out my stock valve cover for a billet aluminum one and wanted to hear from others who’ve done it. Is it mostly for looks, or are there real performance or durability benefits? I’ve seen claims about better sealing, heat dissipation, and resistance to warping, but I’m unsure if it's worth the cost for a mostly street-driven car. Any noticeable changes in oil control or longevity? Also, are there any downsides like increased NVH or fitment issues? Would love to hear your experiences before I pull the trigger.
  12. It would be best to go to your local dealership parts department and see what they list to fit your car
  13. Hi all, Apologies if this is in the wrong part of the forum as I am new here and this is my first post. My friend owns a 2017 VW Passat hybrid and he sent me this photo (please see below) the mechanic said it's missing a cover. Can anyone verify what this is and if there is a cover please. Many thanks for all who read this. Regards Jamie
  14. Is there a side panel at the end of the dash that can be removed? It may only be able to be removed from the rear, behind the dash - maybe able to view it better if the glovebox / lower dash is removed
  15. Hi Folks, I've got a 2017 R-Line Touran. Unfortunately, the vent tab has popped out for the front passneger door side vent. Looking online, everyone seems to suggest removing the vent to put the tab back in - I assume to ensure you don't drop parts down into the vent It looks like i need to remove the dash trim surround to get the vent out. For the life of me I can't seem to find a guide on how to do this. I assume its just trim tabs, but I dont want to break anything ! Any ideas / insight hugely appreciated.
  16. Hey everyone, I’m considering an L5P delete kit for my Volkswagen, and I’m looking for some advice. I’ve seen mixed reviews, and I’m not sure if the benefits outweigh the potential downsides. For those who’ve done it, how did it impact performance, fuel economy, and overall driving experience? Were there any issues with codes, inspections, or long-term reliability? I'm also curious if it affected your vehicle’s warranty or engine health. If you had to do it again, would you still go through with the delete? Any kits or tuners you’d recommend?
  17. Make sure the immobiliser chip hasn't fallen out when changing the battery - had that happen to me before
  18. That's great to know - thanks for the feedback and glad it was something simple
  19. Morning, thanks for the reply. I ended up taking it to an auto electricians who determined it was a loose/faulty main relay (R5) under the engine fuse box. This was replaced and its been fine since this. Hoping this has solved the issue!
  20. 2nd dash key not working, changed battery but showing immoboliser active?
  21. The first place I would start is the battery condition and security of connections, etc It is possible it could be reading the wrong voltage if it needs to be programmed in
  22. Hi....welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard!
  23. Try eBay as a starting point https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/bn_1838652?toolid=20012&mkcid=1&campid=5338906902&siteid=3&mkrid=710%2D53481%2D19255%2D0&customid=
