I have a 2009 1.2 polo match (N9) If it starts it runs v.well but sometimes it just won't start it's had new spark plugs and a coil no codes or errors are displayed no dash warning lights. Fuel pump working. we checked earthing points and cleaned. we inspected connectors to ecu and found them to be clean. On assembly we tried to start and it did. worked for a couple of days then not starting again. It hasn't stopped working when the engine has been running and no symptoms when driving. Any ideas and does anyone know where all the earthing points are. Oh yes we did take all the plugs out and there was no spark so we think it must be some sort of electrical issue So hoping…

I'm fairly sure I've seen this on the Forum previously but can't find it now. We have a 2018 Polo and the washers have stopped working, fluid topped up. The handbook does not show fuse position and I can't see any diagram on the lids. Does anyone know which fuse it is or where I can find a clear diagram ?

  7. HELP - I'm a pensioner living in Leicestershire with no real knowledge of motors. I have a fairly rare 2008 POLO 1.6 SPORT (FSi). The rectangular back exhaust box is beginning to age and will need replacing soon enough but the prices I am being quoted are prohibitive (are they gold plated ?). Any ideas where I can look for "alternative" parts ? Can "non VW-standard" parts be fitted ? Is going for a "custom made" stainless a possibility ? Any recommendations or ideas gratefully received. Thx.

  8. Hi all, I suspect that the Vivo is not for sale in the UK but please read on just in case.... Long story short, some moron (i.e. me) tried to clean some old adhesive off this plastic panel using (acetone free) nail polish remover. It has obviously ruined the plastic on this panel as you can see in the attached image - It looks worse in real life! My question is whether this panel (not the light switch) is a replaceable / removable part and if not - any suggestions on how to make this look less terrible? e.g. sanding it down, some kind of lacquer.... I am pretty clueless with this kind of thing. Thanks in advance, DL

My daughter has a 68 plate VW Polo, very low milage. Yesterday she was driving with three friends in the car, when for no reason the driver assist caused the car to do an emergency stop and locked the wheels. They were on a straight road, doing less than 30mph, there was nothing in front of them and luckily, nothing behind. If there had been a car behind it would have undoubtedly caused an accident. VW have said they will do a diagnostic test for £140. I think this is unreasonable as their cars obviously have a dangerous defect, which they should have a recall on. Further reading online shows that there have been many identical incidents. I'm currently talking to som…

Hi all My daughter has a 2018 Polo listed as 999CC. I want to know where the level indicator is on the dipstick. There are two indents on the dipstick at about 1 and 3 cm's then a plastic 'pip' about 5Cm further up. Car isn't here to photograph so attached is my best Take Hart attempt ! PoloDipstick.pdf

Hi, I’m looking to buy either a new Polo SE or the Beats model. Going for the DSG gearbox too. The only thing worrying me is the light interior on the Beats. I think it will show dirt and scratches easily over time. Any opinions on the beats interior? Thanks

Hi there :). I have a polo mk 4. The rear wiper on my polo isn't working. It's had a new motor but still won't work, so i suspect the stalk or, god forbid the wiring somewhere. I've also checked the fuse which seems good. The washer on it works ok and the front ones are fine. Before i go and purchase a new switch, can anyone else who'd had a similar issue advise me at all please ? TIA Debz

I helping a friend with a problem with his carburettor on this Polo, its the 1050 engine 40 hp, it seems the rubber gasket under the carburettor is now leaking air, as we cannot get the engine to idle, it just dies. If I press down on the carb it will idle, so must be an air leak. I'm also looking a manual for setting up this carburettor, or the settings/adjustments its a Pierburg. There appears to be an adjusting screw where a vacuum line comes from the vacuum pipe to the brake servo, any help here would be useful please. Whats its purpose? Is it an anti run on devise? John

  14. Hey, my girlfriend recently got a new clutch done on her 2012 polo, and it has started making a clunking/ grinding noise when the clutch pedal is not engaged and the noise stops when the clutch pedal is engaged, i was thinking that it could be a input bearing in the gearbox(more then likely wrong) or the mechanic installed the clutch disc or flywheel incorrectly and didn't use an adjustment tool. Just posting if anyone has any ideas, thanks

  15. Mk5 1.2 3 cyl 60bph car starts fine when engine cold. After driving refuses to start it just keeps cranking. changed all spark plugs, all coil packs, engine loom wiring harness and starter motor. Problem still persists. any idea what this could be? Thanks

  17. I own a VW Gol, assembled in Brazil. I get a hyperflasher on the dash because my back left LED Turn light has gone off. Twice I have checked in at the dealer but when the back-light unit is taken out and refitted, the problem seem to go away for a while and the resurfaces.

  18. Hello, I have a 2013 polo, new coils and plugs fitted but the connector to the coil on cylinder 2 doesn’t sit tight enough so causes a misfire. It’s a new genuine vw connector as well. How can I make the connector fit more tightly onto the coil?

Can anyone explain why my 65 plate polo has just this winter started having really thick condensation inside the windscreen, so much so that I have to use a windier cleaners squeegee whenever I want to go anywhere. Plus that fact it’s been freezing inside this past week?

Hey. Purchased a Polo Blue GT last November, brand new. For about two months now I get no radio reception what so ever. Got told by a technician at a VW garage this was common amongst the Polo's. A software update was done and nothing has changed. As well the radio tends to freeze, been doing it since purchase. Any feedback will be appreciated. Cheers.
