Hi all I am new to this my touran has done just about 209k but I left my house to do a 90 miles drive got there all ok and I got about 10 mins into my journey back that takes 2hrs I stopped at some traffic lights soon as they went green my car made this different nose so pulled over looked under the car looked at tyres all ok lifted bonnet could not see anything different to normal so I Rev the car and soon as I Rev the car I could see smoke coming from the engine so I went to have a look and i thought it smelled like rubber I then rang the brake down and he said the smell n smoke is the diesel fumes that’s escaping but I ended getting recovered can anyone give me any advice to what it could be please

If you are smelling rubber under the bonnet then it could either be the auxiliary drivebelt and possibly tensioner that has failed.

alternatively, it could also be the cambelt starting to fail, tensioner could be failing and leading to the belt moving over and contacting the timing belt cover.

Either way, it would definitely need to go to a garage for further invesitigation
