Hi, thanks in advance any advice will be much appreciated.

I have a 2014 touran 1.6 manual with stop start with the gearbox code being MFR.

Unfortunately the box decided to pack up suddenly, without warning.

Now I'm struggling to get hold of a second hand gearbox with the MFR code. Having researched online, I can see that a gearbox with the MAW is very similar and more readily available.T

Looking at the VW manual, both gearboxes have identical gear ratios. I can't find any difference, so why make them with different codes.

The big question is, is this possible? has anybody fitted a gearbox with a different code to the original?
