On checking the outside temperature display on the car, it is showing 60 degrees Celsius!

id there any way to reset or do I need to replace the sensor?

if I need to replace the sensor, can it be done by myself? Or is it better for a garage to do it?

On the older Passat the ambient air temperature sensor would be mounted behind the front bumper area to measure the air when driving

Not sure on later models.....but I would still look for any wiring going to your front bumper area

Usually, simply disconnect, remove sensor and reconnect on a new one
