I have a Passat 2.0 tdi with suspected ecu problems. It’s in for refurb as we speak but if they cannot fix it, can I buy a secondhand ecu and code it to my car using VCDS?

It should be able to recode but you may need other components to match....key, etc.

What are the symptoms of the fault you have?
