David Lowther Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Hi just wondering if any Golf owners have achieved noticeable reductions in road noise by changing tyres. My recent purchase came with Gt radial FE2 tyres which are OK but the road noise can be excessive on some surfaces, but it still better than the BMW active tourer. I know that the EU tyre ratings for noise don't necessarily relate to internal noise levels.
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 You could try some premium tyres as GT Radial tyres are more budget to medium tyres and they would be noisier
David Lowther Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Thanks. I think you can only go on recommendations. It's very difficult some people complain that Michelin Primacy tyres are noisy and the external noise ratings don't necessarily correspond with the internal noise experienced by the driver. There are some new Falken tyres rated at 67db but that would be a gamble. What tyre brands are used on brand new Golfs with 16 inch wheels?
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I rate Falken as a mid-range tyre and have never had any issues with them in the past on most cars
