DILJIT HAYRE Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Hi guys I am totally new to the VW World right let's start VW Passat if I buy a 1.5 automatic is this going to be dry clutch gearbox or wet clutch gearbox and if I buy the two liter is this going to be dry clutch or wet clutch sorry if I've screwed this all up all new to forums oh yes you guys referred to it as a DSG box
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted August 7, 2023 Posted August 7, 2023 I would stick to the genuine oils recommended by the manaufacturer Any VW dealership should be able to provide the oil but probably wont be cheap though
DILJIT HAYRE Posted August 25, 2023 Author Posted August 25, 2023 Hi anybody out there I still didn't get a reply on my gearbox question am I doing this all wrong
Mont Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 I get you! Forums can be a bit of a maze at first. So, when it comes to the VW Passat, the 1.5-liter automatic usually rocks the dry clutch gearbox, while the 2.0-liter tends to sport the wet clutch. The DSG box terminology might throw anyone off initially, but it essentially refers to the Direct-Shift Gearbox, the automatic transmission VW is known for. Don't worry about the forum finesse; we're all here to help each other out!
