Replacement engine or not

Hi all

I have a VW Golf TSI Plus Reg 2009.  The engine (I am told) needs to be replaced after a compression test.  The question is do I pay to have a replacement engine in the car or scrap it.  The body work and interior is good and I bought it for £5,000 in May 22.
