My 2002 1.9 tdi 130 sport Passat passed an MOT in Nov 2020 and was fully serviced Feb 2021. However, when I drive on an uneven road, the off side rear suspension 'bangs' or 'thud' to me appropriate but nothing was found on the MOT or service.  More recently, even slight movement on the road sounds like two chipmunks are squabbling in the boot.

Does anyone have any idea as to what is failing and might need replacing? The springs are not too old so I think i can discount them.
