mindiawl Posted August 21, 2021 Posted August 21, 2021 Hi, I have a 2005 1.9 TDI. Has anyone any idea where the relay is for the front wipers please? I've taken every single relay out one by one from the ralay board behind the fuse box under the steering and the wipers kept working so it's none of them. Help. Or is it a simple case that the wipers have no relay? Thanks in advance
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 The wipers would run through a relay for timer but otherwise the normal speed operation is controlled through the motor and switches. Out of curiosity, why do you want to find the relay if the wipers are working?
mindiawl Posted August 23, 2021 Author Posted August 23, 2021 Hi, thanks for your reply. They only work for a while. Here is a post I listed elsewhere which describes the issue. Hope you can shed some light. Thanks 2005 1.9 TDI Front wipers issue. Hi, looking to see if anyone has had this kind of issue before please? Or would know what to check. Ok I know that when the bonnet / Hood is open, the micro switch in the bonnet catch stops the 2 front wipers and the screen wash from working as standard. We initiate thought a faulty switch was causing our issue of the wipers acting very strange, however when they act strange and don't work the screen wash still works so that eliminates it being a faulty bonnet micro switch. Ok if using the wipers on the timer cycle wich runs then in incriminates the wipers fail after about 3 minutes or sometimes when you put the indicator or lights on, "They just STOP at the bottom in the correct stopped place" Then the only way to get them to work again is to stop the car, switch ignition off and also take key out, then key back in and start then wipers work for a while. Earlier we tried a different aproch. We flicked the wipers up to speed 1 and drove and it was great so after about 5 mins we switched the lights on, instantly the wipers sped up to speed 2,we tried moving the lever down to speed 1 and to off but the wipers kept going on speed 2. We stopped took the key out but they kept going on speed 2 with no key in ignition and lever down in off They only stopped when we put the key back in and turned it to the on position. I've also replaced the steering control medule, but still the same. Crazy wiper day help please. Thanks 1
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted August 23, 2021 Posted August 23, 2021 You could try running an supplementary earth lead directly to the wiper motor to see if this is a poor earth issue
mindiawl Posted August 23, 2021 Author Posted August 23, 2021 Ah ok, would that be to both motors or is there only one motor that does both?
