  1. Started by pointer,

VW Passat Estate B6 As the MOT was due soon, I decided to check all the brake pads. The front had plenty of wear left although the wear limit warning cable had broken, so I ‘snipped’ it off as it was not part of any management system other than a warning on the dash. I will replace the front pads when necessary, complete with its wear limit warning cable. The rear pads were quite worn, so I decided they needed attention. I replaced the rear pads and drove quite happily for a couple of days using the electric handbrake where needed. I then drove to a local post box and had to apply the handbrake as I was on a slope but on returning to the car, the hand…

I have 2003 passat 1.9 tdi not 100 sure on model etc that i have as im not so clued up on vws. Im changing alternator and wondered if any one had a guide/maual or step by step instructions. Tools needed etc etc.

  3. On checking the outside temperature display on the car, it is showing 60 degrees Celsius! id there any way to reset or do I need to replace the sensor? if I need to replace the sensor, can it be done by myself? Or is it better for a garage to do it? thanks in advance for all help!

  4. Having seen that water leaks are common on Passat's I have carried out the recommended actions on my 2004 car and cleaned out the drain hole and replaced the seal around the filter house. Next is to dry out the carpets. I am reluctant to disturb the CCM box as the only issue with the car is the central locking which only works with the manual door lock and the drivers door interior light is not working. Any suggestions please, can I make things worse by touching it and can the current faults be something else within the door CL system. Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi, I’m having trouble changing the reversing bulb on the boot lid of my 2014 vw Passat estate. I remove the whole unit. Can access and remove both the brake light and light bulbs, however I can’t access the reversing bulb. Does anyone know how to do this please? Thank you

Hello all, just changed the anti roll bar bushes, swapped to poly, I was led to believe only 1 nut was flanged on each bracket, turns out both nuts on each bracket are flanged, bit of a pig of a job room wise.

Can anyone help please? I need to replace the gearbox casing to my sons 2012 Passat. This is an image of the code on the part that needs replacing. What does the WWO 6 ref mean as I have sourced a part but the code is WWO 2 does this make any difference? Or does anyone have a part with the same code to sell?

  11. Hello All, I'm new here so please be gentle, so I have a Passat (Shock) B6 2.0TDI 2008. Whilst she drives lovely, and the suspension feels normal. She's decided to develop a noise recently, upon going over rough terrain I can here what sounds like saucepans crashing and banging together (No I do not have a saucepan set in the boot) now from what I can see the suspension components look fine, and as mentioned I don't feel a difference in the suspension and also the handling. I have a theory MAYBE it could be an exhaust hanger has packed it's self in. However, before I become a contortionist I'd like to know if there is a typical "common fault" that would per…

Hello All, Can't seem to find a definitive answer on this, looking at the brake rotor size on the rear, I come up with two sizes, 282 and 286, my model is a 2.0tdi DSG. Is there a difference to the sizing for the electric parking brake or? Any help would be greatly appreciated, should mention my rims are 16's

Hi all, can anyone tell me the size of the torx for the front strut pinch bolt please, mine are rounded off from previous owner. Thankyou.

  17. Hi, I'm viewing a 2011 Passat with original VW media screens in the headrests. I've no experience of using these in any car and was wondering how they work. From the advert photos there seems to be a USB socket. Do you simply connect your smartphone to the unit using a USB cable and whatever you're watching on your smartphone (Netflix, Amazon etc) it is shown on the screens? Are they DVD compatible as well? Hopefully someone can help.

  22. The time has unfortunately come where I need to part ways with my Passat🙁 Repairs are needed on 3 pulleys (viscus bearing has seized), new fan belt and a new water pump and fixings (which houses the aforementioned viscus bearing). The quotes for repair mean it is no longer financially viable for me to keep the car. A new alternator was fitted 12 months ago, alloys are in ok condition and a couple of months ago I had the car Terracleaned by Fuel Rectifiers which cleared years of built up dirt from inside the engine. The engine has a little over 140k miles on the clock but has never caused me any problems. Ideally I would love to sell this to a someone …

Hi all. I have an 08 Passat TDI estate.I've had an advisory on last mot to get bushes replaced on front lower wishbones both NS and OS. Some mechanic said the bushes can be replaced on the wishbones, another guy today said the bushes can't be replaced and I have to replace the whole lower Wishbone minus the ball joints. Which is correct please? Also if the job is done would tracking be counted as part of the rectification after installation of new wishbones or would that be an additional charge? I've been quoted £300 to replace the lower wishbones. Many thanks. Ess
