I'm debating whether to get a petrol Sharan. I had a diesel Sharan that I bought just as the emissions scandal came out. I swore I'd never buy another VW diesel but we loved the Sharan. Is the Petrol Sharan a reasonable option?

New here so apologies if I get some protocol wrong. I've looked at many videos etc onremoving the double din unit. I have used the removal keys and the unit comes part way out then stops. it doesn't slide out easily as in the videos. Mine seems to have something else at the back to undo. Any suggestions welcome. Hi all, New to this forum so apologies if this has been asked before. Just purchased a 2016 Sharan 150 Nav. Tried to connect my phone to use the Appleplay feature through App-Connect only to find out it needs an activation code from my local VW dealer. I phoned them and was told it would cost £250 for this code which seems to be quite an expensive option. Does this sound about right? Has anyone managed to do this without having to use a main dealer? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi I am a new member to this site and require some help on a DRL light issue. I have replaced the DRL bulb on the right hand side of my 2014 Sharan, and all worked well. I now have an issue with the bulb not working, dashboard warning and left side working OK. I have checked the bulb and all is OK, I have cleaned the connectors and still cannot get working. Has anyone else had this issue and what was the fix ? Could you please help, Thanks in advance

Dropped the engine under-tray today to change the engine oil and filter and noticed a slight oil leak coming from the small end cap just below the gearbox filler. Does anyone know if this cap can be replaced externally or will it involve being fitted from inside the gearbox which means a strip down. 2016 2.0Ltr Tdi 6 speed manual NFZ box Thanks in advance.

Hi all! I recently bought a Sharan '12 and am very happy with the car! I'm new to the forum, I would like to know how to improve the car, improve the interior, or maybe there is a list of what needs to be done immediately after purchase?

My daughter has a 2013 Sharan ( this is her second Sharan ) and she has encountered a problem with diesel fumes in the car and depending on the weather these can be just about tolerable to intolerable. She was advised to have the ERG valve repaired which she did and the problem seemed to go away only to return in recent times. My questions are, is this problem related the the valve entirely, how much is the cost and replacement of a new one !. It is serious to the point where she wants to change the vehicle entirely when perhaps a change of valve may sort out the problem. Any advice or input is very welcome. Thank you.

Can anyone help me please. I have a bag of spanners otherwise known as a 2013 VW Sharan 1.9 TDI Bluemotion I've had a horrible vibration through the steering wheel and up through the seats for ages . It started out of nowhere and now won't go away. I've replaced all 4 tyres and had them balanced and tracked. I've had the alignment done. I've had new lower suspension arms (wishbones), I've had new drive shafts (O/s & N/s), I've had new discs front and new pads all round. Hi, all I've recently bought a 2010 Sharan 1.4 tsi. It's a Japanese import & in, apparently, great condition. I love it. . Previously I've owned an Alhambra & a Galaxy. The VW seems better than both though a more recent model. I want to replace the head unit/ infotainment system as the original unit has been removed by the dealer, I'm guessin, & replaced with a cheapie android 9" unit. This is ok but not as easy to use as previous systems I've owned. Also the sound similarly isn't as good. Question being; do I try to buy a VW system similar to the factory fitted one, (RNS 510 or better), or something like a pioneer head unit? I like to play CD's oc…

Hi I have a 2015 2.0 TD Sharan with 84k miles on the clock, I have an intermittent clunking noise coming from the front of the car which I thought was related to steering/ suspension. Garage has checked it out twice and can’t find anything wrong. Realised today the clunking noise is when I change gear (manual) and the clutch engages Anyone have any idea what is causing so I can give the garage some pointers? thanks

Hi. I've owned a number of mk1 Sharans, which I loved but I've just bought a 2009 Alhambra Ecomotive because my last Sharan finally died. However I've got a problem which is fairly similar to something that happened on my Sharan Sport some years ago. The car has the engine management light on and when started says "Emissions Workshop". I drive it and after a while the flashing glow plug light comes on and it enters limp home mode. There is a slight smell of exhaust gases in the car when the heater is on and at night I can see some smoke (presume exhaust) coming from the front grill. I drive a VW Sharan 2015 auto. For the last few days, the car has been shaking quite badly from around 30-40mph. After that it calms done and then as the speed climbs the steering vibrates. I don't think its alignment as it drives straight. Has anyone had a similar issue with a VW Sharan.

I have a 2010 sharan which has the old version of the adblue system. A while ago when I drove 30 miles or so a light came on, I had it fault read & it said addictive tank empty so I had it filled up, the light is continuing to come on despite the tank bring full & now it comes on after 9 or so miles. Do any of you know what might be the problem? thanks

Evening all I've recently brought a 2005 Sharan and just wanted to know if there are any of suspension upgrades that can be done to them other than lowering springs? Are there any companies that make uprated bushes or anything? Also I'm looking to fit a set of 17inch 2005 Passat wheels to it with and ET of 37. The wheels on my car are ET59 I think. Has anyone done this to there car and is there anything I need to look out for? Cheers

Hi, I’m trying to fit an aftermarket stereo in my 2006 Sharan, but I can find the correct harness for my car. Halfords have one for a VW but the pins do not correspond with the iso in my car. Has anyone had this experience? Or found a harness that works? thanks.

Evening all Has anyone upgraded the brakes on their Sharan? Does the Sharan carry over the same hubs as any other VAG stuff? I'm looking at using bigger brakes off of something within the same group rather than going for something like a big brake kit from an aftermarket manufacturer. Cheers

I was driving last night on a 20mph zone and all of a sudden without warning, the engine of my vw sharan 2016 model shut down. I tried starting it several times, but without success, no noise whatsoever, no cranking, dead silent. After several attempts to start the engine without success, I had to take the car home on a breakdown recovery truck. In addition, the car has a problem of dpf filter showing amber light in the dashboard and the battery is a new one, just two weeks old. What might be the cause?

I've replaced my 07 Alhambra Nav head unit with a £50 Android unit. This works brilliantly but I am now without heated seats or windscreens. ESP cancel also not functioning. I have two plugs which went into the back of the old nav unit. One is a yellow/blue/green block. The other is grey with blue locking clip. The Android unit has no sockets for these, only the black and brown connectors. Any suggestions? As far as I know the old unit did not control these items. How are they interlinked and can it be bypassed? Any help much appreciated. Dave

Before i spend hundreds at a main VW dealer does anyone know how to get the RNS 510 working back to normal had my one year old Grandaughter on my lap pressing all the buttons on radio and steering wheel didnt take much notice but its lost all stations and everything is in German ive tried to change language back to English it comes up in German the your chosen language is being loaded but nothing happens in desperation i pressed factory reset but its still all the same in German cd goes in and wont play sat nav comes up but all in German ani ideas please thanks in advance
