Michael Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Hi I have a 2007 VW golf plus with 120000 miles on the clock. The clutch pedal is on the floor. I can pull it back up and it seems its OK. I can place it in gear and it starts to drive. Then the problem re occurs when I press the pedal it stays down and it won't disengage. Is it a master or slave cylinder problem. Any help or advice would help. Thanks Michael
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 Sounds like it could be the plastic ratchet mechanism on the clutch pedal Have a look under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal and see if there is a white plastic part It should also make a ratcheting noise when you lift the pedal back up If it is this then it needs replacing but is a sod of a job to do unless you are very flexible
