Faulty driver assist

My daughter has a 68 plate VW Polo, very low milage. Yesterday she was driving with three friends in the car, when for no reason the driver assist caused the car to do an emergency stop and locked the wheels. They were on a straight road, doing less than 30mph, there was nothing in front of them and luckily, nothing behind. If there had been a car behind it would have undoubtedly caused an accident.

VW have said they will do a diagnostic test for £140. I think this is unreasonable as their cars obviously have a dangerous defect, which they should have a recall on. Further reading online shows that there have been many identical incidents. I'm currently talking to some of these people and registering a complaint at VW in Germany. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Hi,

My Daughter also has a Polo from 2018, although it has never done an Emergency stop, the Driver assist has slowed it down for no apparent reason.

I paid for my own diagnostic test at a small independent but no faults were logged.

Let us know how you get on.
