spearsoftwilight Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 HELP - I'm a pensioner living in Leicestershire with no real knowledge of motors. I have a fairly rare 2008 POLO 1.6 SPORT (FSi). The rectangular back exhaust box is beginning to age and will need replacing soon enough but the prices I am being quoted are prohibitive (are they gold plated ?).Any ideas where I can look for "alternative" parts ? Can "non VW-standard" parts be fitted ? Is going for a "custom made" stainless a possibility ? Any recommendations or ideas gratefully received. Thx.
Volkswagen Owners Club Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Your car is out of warranty so non genuine parts can definitely be fitted if you wish, Any decent performance exhaust specialist should be able to custom make something if you wanted to go down that route. Have you tried the big motor factors to see if they do anything?
Probbo Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 If prices are high, I'm guessing your catalytic converter is in need of replacement too. This contains alot of titanium, hence the price. You will fail emissions tests without it and then your MOT!Aftermarket parts will likely cost more due to the normally tuned nature of them, best just to suck it up or risk paying for two MOT's too ;)
