You Hello all,

 

I’m  hoping one of you can help please,

my dad has an 05 Passat saloon 2.0tdi and the electric  parking brake won’t disengage 😣 what could cause this ? Any ideas how much it will cost to fix ?

Hi.....welcome to the Forum

It could be the cable has seized but more than likely the pads are stuck to the discs which will probably unseize if you drive it for a short distance.

If it has an electronic handbrake then that's a different ballgame

It’s an electronic parking brake unfortunately, the light on the button flashes and it throws a dash warning

Can it me manually released without the need for computer hookup ? 

Not that I am aware of....if it is just one side then you could probably remove the caliper from the disc and fit another one if it has gone faulty but then you would still have to have it programme into the correct setting
