Looking at buying my 1st Golf GTi

So I’m going to look at a 2001 1.8T (180) Golf GTi. It looks very clean in the pictures. Has a great amount of service history and the MOTs haven’t had a tremendous amount of problems to deal with from what I’ve seen. 
 

It’s only got 89k on the clock which looks correct going by the MOTs. Paying £1500 for it. And includes the Anniversary wheels too. 
 

Is this a good price depending on the overall condition? Also is there anything I need to look for in particular. Any major issues they suffer with that someone with very minimal mechanical knowledge would be able to spot. 
 

I’ve attached a photo of the car. Includes a winter pack with heated seats and headlamp washers I believe. 
 

This will be my first VW and I’ve always wanted a golf GTi. Now I’m 35 and the insurance is low I thought now is the time to get one.

Hi....welcome to the Forum

It looks superb in the photo....nice edition to own!

There will no doubt be numerous Golf issues which will need resolving but luckily these are usually easy and cheap to sort.
I would go through it when you get it and address each issue individually and see what crops up.
