Jonesyboy Posted July 21, 2022 Share Posted July 21, 2022 Hi Guys I am want to purchase a golf GTI 2016 but have herd horror stories about the turbo are prone to failer. Has anybody had this issue. Would i be better off buying a later model. The car has only done 45000 miles and has full service history. The water pump has been changed. Volkswagen Owners Club Posted July 22, 2022 Share Posted July 22, 2022 Hi....welcome to the Club I would examine the vehicles' service history and see that it has been carried out correctly and on time. Certainly good oil is an investment for longer turbo life and allowing it to cool down for a while before switching the engine off.
