We own a 2012 Touareg Altitude , lovely car but I trying to find someone who has fitted side step to an Altitude model, as my wife is struggling to get in and out, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, spoken to a couple of supplier who said its possible but spacers are needed. I purchased a set of genuine VW steps but there isn't enough clearance to open the door. Cheers Steve

  2. Started by Garry Cook,

Hi, my father died recently, and I'm trying to write his eulogy, but I'm struggling to remember details of a thing that had been very dear to him. Back in the 70's he was a very active member of the VW owners club near Lincoln. I believe that it was based at the dealer ship Green's of Faldingworth. Am I asking the right people? Does anyone remember the club? My father was Colin Cook of Gainsborough. Fingers crossed.

Hi there, I've just joined and looking forward to getting my new (used) High Up! in the next week. Fingers crossed weather not too awful. Previous car was a 2CV which I just sold within first few hours of the advert being placed online. See attached pic, really sad to see it go as owned from new . Now I just have to learn how to drive a normal car again after 30 years . Hope it is easy, test driving car on Saturday. Perhaps everyone could keep of the roads on Saturday afternoon. Ha Ha.

Just bought car and would like to retro fit a reversing camera which would work using existing screens etc. Would prefer to have it fit professionally, but open to options. Looking online leads one to various options, separate camera above licence plate, or, in the tail gate boot opener. Advices please🤔🤔 wgg

Hi Please can anyone suggest an alternative to the Febi Bilstein retaining clips/ flat steel nuts that used to hold the under tray on to my Blue Gt? They are made of spring steel and have disintegrated over time. I dont really want to replace them like for like as they are expensive and the same thing will happen again. Thanks

Afternoon all, I'm a first-time VW Owner and bought a VW Tiguan Mk1 (I think it's a Mk1 - 13 plate) around 2 weeks ago from a VW Dealer here in South Wales under the Das Welt Auto scheme. It's been a bit of a nightmare so far... I bought from VW expecting a better quality of service and decent customer service it's not been great. After giving them an extra day to "prepare the car really nicely" the car I picked it up a little over 10 days ago it transpired the car had been really badly valeted (think algae around the panoramic roof rubbers, dog hair galore behind and to the sides of the back seat, sticky gunk built up in the door pockets and drink holders …

  15. Started by VWgirl,

I just recently had my timing chain and turbo replaced on my 2016 VW Golf SuperSport. Used an independent mechanic and not the dealership. After getting it back, the engine makes a loud screeching noise when I open the hood, doors, trunk and start the car. Sounds like something is trying to cycle but is getting stuck. Acc light and EPC lights are on. Today I noticed that my gas mileage is very poor and after driving it for a long period of time, I had white smoke coming from the engine. I had it towed back to the mechanic. Any input on solutions, other than getting a new mechanic. Feeling a little sick to my stomach after paying a lot of money to have it fixed. …

Hi Everyone,This is my first post on here although I have owned many vw's over the years, I hope someone will be able to give me some advice. My wife drives a 2017 Vw Golf R line with the 7 speed DSG gearbox we have owned it from new(it now has 5k miles on the clock) It has a really anoying rattle that you can only hear with the windows down when going over a slightly bumpy road, you can also hear it if the car is driven past you. I am a subaru mechanic and have checked the car over and all seems ok. I have heard it could be the DSG box rattling, if it is the box should it be that bad at 5k miles? I know you are probably thinking why not take it t…

Hi all, new member here having bought my first ever VW (after 40 years of driving Ford/Vauxhall)...a Passat R Line Estate 2.0, 59 plate in lovely condition and 77k on the clock. I really want to query and get others views on the use of additives to the fuel,( Redex / Millers) but primarily relating to the Diesel Particulate Filter, Millers do an additive specifically to clean/regenerate it. Is it safe to use? Will it cause more problems than solve? Do others use it, if so does it work? Looking to keep it running flawlessly with minimal expense to dealers/garages etc! Have to say really impressed with the vehicle, massively roomy, and quick in a 'relaxed' way …

Hi I just joined, looking for some advice please. I have an old girl 2000 Golf tdi and at the moment she's unable to go out of drives very often (my ill health, not hers). I need to keep her going in case there's a medical emergency and breakdown cover is limited re. repeat call outs for the same problem. So I'm pretty desperate. I've been looking for a compatible solar powered battery maintainer. I've read that the AA one that has good reviews but the ad says it's for diesels from 2004 onwards, an EOBD socket is required. I have no technical nous at all, does anyone know if this would be compatible with the diagnostic socket in the car? Or if not, what would be? My loca…

Hi, I bought a 58 plate Golf Sportswagen 2 litre diesel yesterday. I'm sure I'll be asking questions, previous car was a 55 plate Volvo V50 diesel, which was a great car, sat outside my house with 234,000 miles on the clock. Golf is " baby" at 159,000 miles.

Other vehicles in the fleet are the Mrs' Fiat 500S ant my LR Discovery TD5. Looking forward to some GTD related banter. Dave
