  1. I would like to learn more about the various codes, how to alter/get rid off/adapt etc. I now have a VAG COM plus OBD Software from CARPORT and all looks good.. but I want to learn more about my car, about the various error coded readings. My car a VW 2007 Touran, runs great, but the list of error codes thrown up is bedazzling.. so where do I start before I throw all my hard earnt savings at the local VW garage who at a £110/hr will happily empty my wallet.. Cheers..

  2. Thanks for info. Do you know if I can program this by myself? I mean if it’s difficult? I have an access to VAGCom or similar equipment. All I need for an upgrade of steering wheel are the control buttons, module, all plugged in and then programmed am I right? Cheers

  3. Hi all, I'm thinking of fitting power folding mirrors to my Amarok. Currently they manually fold but are electrically adjustable and heated. Do I need to run new wires or will the required cabling exist in the loom of the vehicle? Obviously I appreciate I will need to change the mirror mechanisms and the switch. Thanks in advance. Dan

  4. Hi Dan Most vehicles (if they have electric mirrors) would have the complete loom in place but not the switch gear to activate it....fitted as an option. However, you will more than likely need to code the new control panel into the CanBus system for to work. Let us know how you get on with it

  5. You have certainly gone about the right way regarding the diagnosis but sometimes it is better to call it a day if the cost for rectification is prohibitive. I know some of the Nissan fuel pumps have had issues with the fuel control valves but even then it can relate back to another fault. Have found most of the electrical faults with Nissan have come down to faulty earth connections and in some cases, earth leads completely severing which leads to a whole array of running issues.

  6. wiperbladeshop.co.uk. Anyone used this site..? really cheap for Trico wiper blades by the looks of it but I’m just wondering how good they are.

  7. In case anyone wasn't aware VW Poole are offering to update non-navigation head units to navigation units for £599. I imagine this offer will be available through other dealers too.

  8. Hi I would have thought the replacement intervals are actually recommended guidelines only. Its not as though the cambelt will snap at that mileage and type of usage should also be considered and taken into account (e.g. taxi's, etc). Waterpumps tend to fail due to running for a set amount of time e.g. 60000 miles but also again, whether stationary mileage (e.g. rush hour) or whether motorway driven but either way the pump has run for the same time as the belt. Bearings wear and allow excess play in the belt setup which can lead to failure (slack belt tension) The only other time I have know belts to fail are as a result of the water pump and /or tensioners going tight on the bearings. This has an effect on the belt if the belt runs over the pump/tensioner on the reverse side (e.g not the toothed side but the smooth side). This then leads to overheating of the belt and is noticeable by the fact that the belt has snapped and also almost petrified (hardened up) due to excess heat generated. VW Golf TDi suffers from this if the belt tension goes slack from specified settings. Good luck with your case...let us know what happens Regards Trevor - Admin

  9. hi, Both the key operated central locking and the electric front windows are not working. A local Independent linked their diagnostic machine to the car and it was pointing towards a Central Control Unit or perhaps called a Computer Control Unit, housed within the drivers door. It seems to be an intermittent fault strangely working okay in warmer weather but packing up in wet and colder weather. Does anyone have any experience with this problem please? The car will only lock manually via each door independently and the electric front windows do not work at all. Many thanks, Stephen

  10. It would probably be best to Google the codes as there is a huge amount of information available on the internet and can be overwhelming sometimes. Also, be aware that there are historic faults and current faults so maybe worth clearing all codes from memory before carrying out a new scan to see which are currently an issue. Have fun !
