Hi all. I have an 08 Passat TDI estate.I've had an advisory on last mot to get bushes replaced on front lower wishbones both NS and OS. Some mechanic said the bushes can be replaced on the wishbones, another guy today said the bushes can't be replaced and I have to replace the whole lower Wishbone minus the ball joints. Which is correct please? Also if the job is done would tracking be counted as part of the rectification after installation of new wishbones or would that be an additional charge? I've been quoted £300 to replace the lower wishbones. Many thanks. Ess

Hi - when turning a corner yesterday there was a slight noise from steering column area and all the steering wheel electrical controls failed - air bag light error, no horn, no computer control, no stereo volume control. I assume this is a fuse blown but which one and where?? And any ideas on what might have caused this fault? The rest of the car works fine..

Hi, new here, hope to get some advice. 2017 Passat GT estate, bought used by me November 2020. A neighbour pointed out to me that there appears to be uneven disc wear on both rear discs (see pics) with the wear only in the middle part of the discs. Front discs show even wear all around. He's not a mechanic (neither am I clearly!). I've booked the car into the service dept of the place I bought it from (not a VW dealer). Although now out of their used car warranty, they did service it last so if it has the wrong size of pads fitted it would be their fault. Grateful for any informed insights....

Hi All. My 2002 2ltr petrol with 56k on the clock has always been well looked after runs quietly and without issues but now has just stopped. It turns over but will not start. Had the AA out to it and for two hours they could not get it going although they did establish that no power was getting to the fuel pump and it was a bit disconcerting to watch him bashing the relays. Car hasn't been used a lot in the last year until the last three months when 1k has been put on. Car is pretty much mint and has never let me down and main dealer serviced. Just dont want to go down the road of replacing exspensive items when I feel it is something simple, I hope. Any help o…

Hi, My parking pilot system is playing up. Sometimes it works, others it just beeps at me, the screen says its not available and the light indicator near the gear stick flashes. Its been to a garage today to check it out, and they've determined the front nearside sensor is faulty and needs replacing. Over £250 for the work! Had a look online and a sensor is around £15. So, does anybody have any info on how you get that faulty one out, new one in, and any other reset-electrical works i need to do to resovle this? Thanks in advance

Hi folks, 2016 Passat Bluemotion owner. I’ve just recently purchased car and first time Adblue user. Issue: Using my steering wheel controls for car information such as fuel left in tank, oil temp, MPG etc, I also can scroll through and noted Adblue Range. I’ve driven car about 1000 miles since owning yet Adblue range never changes( still showing 6500 miles). Online YouTube’s videos are only showing a warning sign will appear counting down till car will no longer start and requires refilling. Should my Adblue range not show it reducing the more I drive or does it only show a warning when level is low? can anyone please help?

VW Passat Estate B6 As the MOT was due soon, I decided to check all the brake pads. The front had plenty of wear left although the wear limit warning cable had broken, so I ‘snipped’ it off as it was not part of any management system other than a warning on the dash. I will replace the front pads when necessary, complete with its wear limit warning cable. The rear pads were quite worn, so I decided they needed attention. I replaced the rear pads and drove quite happily for a couple of days using the electric handbrake where needed. I then drove to a local post box and had to apply the handbrake as I was on a slope but on returning to the car, the hand…

I went out to my car yesterday and tried to open it with the key fob, nothing happened I discovered that the car was unlocked. When I tried to start it, lights flashed and it started clicking, this happened a couple of times then it went completely blank no flashing or clicking. Would this be caused if the battery drained and could it be cured if I get a jump start? My car is a 56 plate Passat

The time has come to face the prospect of saying goodbye to what has overall been the best car I have ever owned. With only one very careful previous owner (2 years) it served me for many years until it was retired from service just two years ago, with the intention being to make it a restoration project. I now have to admit that this is not going to happen. I would prefer to find someone who will restore and cherish it but recognise that it may instead need to be an amazing donor car. It has much going for it being mostly corrosion free but does require work to restore. Pretty much everything works but would for sure need new discs and pads all round and a rep…

Yesterday, my boot stopped opening via either the remote, catch or the button on the door so I’m having to open it manually from the inside. Having ruled out the remote, the boot deadlock switch (in the glove compartment on some US models apparently) I began to inspect the catch. Here’s the thing: When the boot is actually open, the boot catch works via all the usual methods (remote, external handle, driver’s button), however, as soon as it’s shut it no longer functions. This lead me to investigate the possibility of the wiring becoming trapped or damaged by the hinge being in the closed position. I cannot find any evidence of external damage but concluded possibly…

On checking the outside temperature display on the car, it is showing 60 degrees Celsius! id there any way to reset or do I need to replace the sensor? if I need to replace the sensor, can it be done by myself? Or is it better for a garage to do it? thanks in advance for all help!

Having seen that water leaks are common on Passat's I have carried out the recommended actions on my 2004 car and cleaned out the drain hole and replaced the seal around the filter house. Next is to dry out the carpets. I am reluctant to disturb the CCM box as the only issue with the car is the central locking which only works with the manual door lock and the drivers door interior light is not working. Any suggestions please, can I make things worse by touching it and can the current faults be something else within the door CL system. Thank you for any suggestions.
