  1. I need help ! I have a 2003 1.6 petrol 16 valve Golf Match and have been told that the crankcase ventilation PCV valve has failed causing the engine to "hunt" and the EPC and Engine Warning Lights to come on. VW say the part is no longer supplied since last June and there is no replacement. Looking at similar VW parts there's no exact match and no scrapyard seems to have the part (036103464AC). There are similar codes e.g. ending AB but Volkswagen say they are not compatible. Can anyone help as it seems madness to scrap a perfectly good car for the sake of a £40 plastic valve ! Opening the oil filler allows the engine to run fine !

Hi just wondering if any Golf owners have achieved noticeable reductions in road noise by changing tyres. My recent purchase came with Gt radial FE2 tyres which are OK but the road noise can be excessive on some surfaces, but it still better than the BMW active tourer. I know that the EU tyre ratings for noise don't necessarily relate to internal noise levels.

Hi there. Hope somebody can help and advise. Some lowlife smashed 5 windows in my golf estate. Have managed to get from the breakers yard all the side windows and fitted them. But having trouble locating the rear quarter glass, this is untitled. VW UK say they are an obsolete part. Have seen one for sale in Germany for £300 plus any import tax. Didn't want to spend that much on something that could get broken in transit. Any ideas? Thanks for reading. Cheers. Max Field

  7. Hello, I'm a newbie to the forums, and have a door lock issue with my Golf Mk6 4 door 2009 Golf. The right rear door with not lock with the fob. All the other doors lock ok and I can hear the click mechanism working for those doors. I can lock the door manually using the screw override turn on the door (using a flat head screwdriver or similar). Then when unlocking using the fob again, it unlocks all the 4 doors fine. I have tried some WD40 on the latch itself, but this has not helped (didn't expect it to really) There are no reported errors when checking the ECU for error codes. Is there anything else to try and diagnose the problem before going an…

  9. Help! whilst replacing my front headlamp i have damaged the headlamp electrical connector. i have broken the tab off by pushing a screw driver into it's slot.i manage to get it off initially by pressing the 2 sides of the connector with some pliers. how i got this to work is anyone's guess, it just did. i've tried to get the connector off again, and i can't. what are my options if i ever had to release this connector again.

The headlamps (Bi-Xenon type) on my VW Golf Mark 7 work fine but the lenses are extremely faded and scratched. I have attempted restoring them but not successful. A number of on-line stores (EBay, Amazon etc) list replacement lenses for sale and I would like to try using these before I resort to buying complete (and expensive) headlamp units. I know the lenses are sealed into the headlamp body using butyl sealant and have viewed a couple of YouTube videos which demonstrate how to remove/replace lenses by heating the complete headlamp unit in an oven to soften the seal. Can anyone provide their experience (good and bad!) of doing this on a Golf Mk7 and any tips? Tx

  15. Hello, I am selling my 2000 reg diesel silver 1.9 GT TDI MK4 Golf. She has done a lot of mileage at c. 234,000, but she is still going strong. It's a 6 speed gear box. The turbo has slowed down power wise, and it needs cleaning out, as stated by my mechanic. Internal wear and tear but the body is in very good condition with only a little rust on the bottom of the driver's door. I loved this car; the only reason I am selling is I bought another petrol car for a very good deal (petrol is more economical for me now, as city driving rather than long distance). I would break her as she would make a fair bit in parts, but I just simply don't have the time or space to do so. MOT…

Hi all...new member..new golf owner. I have 2014 Golf 1.6 tdi 25000 miles. Have noticed when turning left only a noise which I can only describe as change in engine note..or some other mechanical noise .bizarre I know. Noticed on a particular bend near home..as I straighten noise goes. Also at low speed say in a car park I can hear it. Steers fine...no vibration...right turns no symptoms. Could it be the power steering ...handles fine. Seeing dealer on Saturday but not sure they will believe me! I would be interested in views...no obvious damage. Full range of steering. In warranty which hopefully will be honored. Thanks all....

Have a mk7 Golf and the stop start engages whilst travelling at 40mph and even when it's switched off. Local VW garages says it doesn't show as a fault when it's plugged in, consequently there's nothing they can do, really? Anybody else had this, thanks

  24. Hi guys, Bit of a newbie question, but try as I might, I can't get the dust covered off the back of my headlight units. I know you're meant to turn it one way, but I've tried (both directions) and they will not budge. I've got a AFS Bend lighting error on my mk7 Golf. Reading up, most people say to change the bulbs. Being a "easy fix" I thought I'd try swapping the h7 bulbs but I'm stuck at the dust covers. Any ideas?

2016 1.2 TSI Golf 30,000 miles...EPC light intermittently on dash within first 2 weeks of owning this car, back to garage, turns out the turbo actuator needed replaced..quite surprised at this for such a low mileage car and it's got me wondering if I'm in for persistent problems down the line and should hand this car back?? Any similar experiences? Thanks.
