  1. Hi All Newbie here…Thought I would share our experience so far of buying a 2017 VW Passat Estate (B8) R-Line 2.0 TSI (217bhp) / DSG, imported from Japan. The car is in immaculate condition and the 2.0 TSI petrol combined with the DSG is so smooth and powerful. The level of tech is luxury, full digital cockpit, full leather, fully electric/heated front seats (driver seat with memory function and massage function), reverse camera, lane assist, park assist, cruise control down to 0mph + restart in traffic, electric tailgate, blind spot detection, apple/android connection. We purchased from a company near Chester who specialise in parallel (unmodified)…

Hi. I have old Passat b5 like in topic. It's from 2003. I have a problem with find replacement for my broken glove box for UK version. I found one used in good condition but it's from estate version and my car is saloon. Is there any difference between this two types when we speak about glove box? Thank you

  5. This is a bit of a saga, I'm afraid. I hope people will bear with it. My car is a Passat Highline 2.0 TDI, bought in May 2013. It's my third Passat. I like all the new technology in the car and was really enjoying driving it, but VW seem to have messed up with the auto-dimming of the instrument panel lighting. Actually I hadn't even noticed this "feature" until early September when it suddenly became very apparent, annoying and maybe even dangerous. I always drive with the side/headlights control switch in the AUTO position so the headlights turn on if ambient light level gets low. The car also has separate daytime running lights, by the way. If I drive into a long …

Hi, I have a Passat B7 estate, blue motion. It has climate control, due side. Can anybody tell em how climate control works? When i set a temperate, say 22 degrees, will it adjust the total air temp to 22 in the cabin, or will it blow out air at that temperature. If the first option, would you expect if it was really hot in the car, left in the sun all day, and you set it to 22, it woudl be cool air blowing as the inside cabin temp is higher than 22, or would it still slow warm air at 22 degrees? Hope that makes sense

  8. Hi all, I am new to this forum so wanted to say Hi. Apologies if this issue has been discussed previously, I couldn't find it when searching. I recently purchased a 2017 diesel Passat Estate which has now showing faults nearly every time I start the car/ going slow in traffic / occassionally on the motorway (scary). The car will not start if these faults come up but If I turn the car off and turn it back on, it often works fine. The faults showing are: Error: Stop / Start Error: Stabilisation Control (ESC) Auto Hold is unavailable Front Assist unavailable Proactive passenger protection unavailable Error: Tyre pressure Loss Indicator Fault: elect…

Hey All, So haven't had to visit here in a while and I now have a problem, which I'm sure is common as heck and ya'll will probably scold me for posting a new thread about it. So It's a p1261 code along with p1264, now the one ending 61 was there when I originally bought the car (scanned it after purchase I know dumb dumb) however it sounds sweet, and runs fine (until recently I'll get to that) the 64 one was there also but I cleared them both at the time and only the 61 returned. However now the 64 has reared it's ugly head. Now I know it is VERY common for the wiring loom to go bad, due to in my opinion a Stupidly place harness. However I figured I'd ask …

Hi, new here, hope to get some advice. 2017 Passat GT estate, bought used by me November 2020. A neighbour pointed out to me that there appears to be uneven disc wear on both rear discs (see pics) with the wear only in the middle part of the discs. Front discs show even wear all around. He's not a mechanic (neither am I clearly!). I've booked the car into the service dept of the place I bought it from (not a VW dealer). Although now out of their used car warranty, they did service it last so if it has the wrong size of pads fitted it would be their fault. Grateful for any informed insights....

Yesterday, my boot stopped opening via either the remote, catch or the button on the door so I’m having to open it manually from the inside. Having ruled out the remote, the boot deadlock switch (in the glove compartment on some US models apparently) I began to inspect the catch. Here’s the thing: When the boot is actually open, the boot catch works via all the usual methods (remote, external handle, driver’s button), however, as soon as it’s shut it no longer functions. This lead me to investigate the possibility of the wiring becoming trapped or damaged by the hinge being in the closed position. I cannot find any evidence of external damage but concluded possibly…

Was hoping someone could advise me in a situation. Got a Passat diesel 1.6 2014 model since new. Took it in for MOT and they said needed two front springs. 300 bucks later the abs light came on with other lights. Never happened before. Took it back, they said faulty sensor amd a rusted hub. 280 bucks later, lights are off but car wont go past 60 mph and revs high when trying. Called them this morning and they said it's nothing to do with any of the work they did. Thoughts?

  15. Hi I'm new to the forum so if this topic has been extensively covered I'm sorry. I've just bought a 2007 VW Passat TDI sport estate. When you start it up from cold it's a bit lumpy at idle, but the when it's been left to warm up it's smells quiet bad, like a really old burnt out engine. It'll tickover nicely when warm but there seems to be a lot of black / grey smoke coming out the exhaust. Are these signs of a blocked up EGR valve or something else. Please help, I've only just bought the car and I just hope it's not a lemon cheers Gary 😂

  16. Just bought a 2006 Passat Estate for my daughter. The door mirrors are electrically adjustable but have no provision for folding on the control knob. Can they be just pushed in when parking in tight areas? Reluctant to try too hard as there seems a lot of resistance. Thanks

Just bought a Passat, and the locking system confuses me. The key fob will wirelessly open the front two doors but only locks the drivers door, the rear two doors just remain locked. If I open the drivers door with the key the alarm sounds. Is this normal or is there something adrift with my remote locking system?

I need a piece of trim for my Passat. It is the chrome piece central to the door. It is for my rear passenger door offside. I contacted VW and they want over £100 for the entire kit which is silly really. Any ideas where I could get this?

Tried to take off beam deflectors on arrival back in Portsmouth. They left awful sticky white mess on lamps. My wife gave me a nail varnish remover pad which did the trick but cracked the covers badly within a minute!!! Can I just replace this p[art or do I have to go the whole 2K plus hog? (We are, surprisingly, still talking.)

Hi all hoping someone here maybe able to point me in the right direction. I have a B7 2011 VW Passat Bluemotion TDI. A few weeks back I had an error message come up on the info screen saying TPMS fault, system unavailable along with the permanent yellow TPMS light on the dash. Since then I have also had the coil light on (which i believe is just engine management), stop/start error along with other various lights from time to time (ABS, TCS, Parking brake light - all in yellow) On scanning the car with Delphi OBD scanner software it said that the brake light switch signal is implausible-fault intermittent (think the code was J502) So I have changed the brake light …

Hi folks, 2016 Passat Bluemotion owner. I’ve just recently purchased car and first time Adblue user. Issue: Using my steering wheel controls for car information such as fuel left in tank, oil temp, MPG etc, I also can scroll through and noted Adblue Range. I’ve driven car about 1000 miles since owning yet Adblue range never changes( still showing 6500 miles). Online YouTube’s videos are only showing a warning sign will appear counting down till car will no longer start and requires refilling. Should my Adblue range not show it reducing the more I drive or does it only show a warning when level is low? can anyone please help?

I went out to my car yesterday and tried to open it with the key fob, nothing happened I discovered that the car was unlocked. When I tried to start it, lights flashed and it started clicking, this happened a couple of times then it went completely blank no flashing or clicking. Would this be caused if the battery drained and could it be cured if I get a jump start? My car is a 56 plate Passat
