Yesterday, my boot stopped opening via either the remote, catch or the button on the door so I’m having to open it manually from the inside. Having ruled out the remote, the boot deadlock switch (in the glove compartment on some US models apparently) I began to inspect the catch. Here’s the thing: When the boot is actually open, the boot catch works via all the usual methods (remote, external handle, driver’s button), however, as soon as it’s shut it no longer functions. This lead me to investigate the possibility of the wiring becoming trapped or damaged by the hinge being in the closed position. I cannot find any evidence of external damage but concluded possibly…

Proud owner of B5.b 4 motion 2003. My ABS is disconnected due to fault. Of course those 2 lights come up to dashboard and MOT guys did not like it. Would some of you suggest a different solution from replacing ABS or dismantling the dashboard to switch them off, please? I thought of maybe some pin bridging in the cable which is now disconnected from ABS. Thanks and best. Joe

I went out to my car yesterday and tried to open it with the key fob, nothing happened I discovered that the car was unlocked. When I tried to start it, lights flashed and it started clicking, this happened a couple of times then it went completely blank no flashing or clicking. Would this be caused if the battery drained and could it be cured if I get a jump start? My car is a 56 plate Passat

Just bought a Passat, and the locking system confuses me. The key fob will wirelessly open the front two doors but only locks the drivers door, the rear two doors just remain locked. If I open the drivers door with the key the alarm sounds. Is this normal or is there something adrift with my remote locking system?

Hi Simple question hopefully. I loaded about 125kg of sand into the boot of my car. Is this a safe load for the rear suspension? There was nothing else in the car other than me, and I am only about 75kg. Just a bit concerned it seemed lower the next day, although could be imagining that. Have struggled to work out what the car can take from the manual. Any feedback would be appreciated. Many thanks

Tried to take off beam deflectors on arrival back in Portsmouth. They left awful sticky white mess on lamps. My wife gave me a nail varnish remover pad which did the trick but cracked the covers badly within a minute!!! Can I just replace this p[art or do I have to go the whole 2K plus hog? (We are, surprisingly, still talking.)

2016 Passat 1.6 diesel auto. When I start a journey with aircon on and fan blowing all is ok. After about 50 miles the flow gets weaker, and after 80 miles or so, I have it cranked over to full speed fan, and hardly anything is coming out the vents. Any suggestions?

I have a Passat 2.0 tdi with suspected ecu problems. It’s in for refurb as we speak but if they cannot fix it, can I buy a secondhand ecu and code it to my car using VCDS?

Hi all hoping someone here maybe able to point me in the right direction. I have a B7 2011 VW Passat Bluemotion TDI. A few weeks back I had an error message come up on the info screen saying TPMS fault, system unavailable along with the permanent yellow TPMS light on the dash. Since then I have also had the coil light on (which i believe is just engine management), stop/start error along with other various lights from time to time (ABS, TCS, Parking brake light - all in yellow) On scanning the car with Delphi OBD scanner software it said that the brake light switch signal is implausible-fault intermittent (think the code was J502) So I have changed the brake light …

Just bought a 2006 Passat Estate for my daughter. The door mirrors are electrically adjustable but have no provision for folding on the control knob. Can they be just pushed in when parking in tight areas? Reluctant to try too hard as there seems a lot of resistance. Thanks

Hi All. My 2002 2ltr petrol with 56k on the clock has always been well looked after runs quietly and without issues but now has just stopped. It turns over but will not start. Had the AA out to it and for two hours they could not get it going although they did establish that no power was getting to the fuel pump. Car hasnt been used a lot in the last year until

I need a piece of trim for my Passat. It is the chrome piece central to the door. It is for my rear passenger door offside. I contacted VW and they want over £100 for the entire kit which is silly really. Any ideas where I could get this?

This is a long shot, but I just discovered my late Grandad's 2004 Passat estate (AF54 WPL) is still on the road via gov.uk with over 200,000 miles on the clock! He bought it brand new in 2004 and it was his pride and joy. I remember the first time he turned up to my parents' house in it and he spent ages showing me round. He died in 2007 and my Grandma sold it shortly afterwards. If the owner happens to stumble across this post and is ever thinking about selling I would love to take it off you. I'm very sentimental like that 😁

Hey All, So haven't had to visit here in a while and I now have a problem, which I'm sure is common as heck and ya'll will probably scold me for posting a new thread about it. So It's a p1261 code along with p1264, now the one ending 61 was there when I originally bought the car (scanned it after purchase I know dumb dumb) however it sounds sweet, and runs fine (until recently I'll get to that) the 64 one was there also but I cleared them both at the time and only the 61 returned. However now the 64 has reared it's ugly head. Now I know it is VERY common for the wiring loom to go bad, due to in my opinion a Stupidly place harness. However I figured I'd ask …

Hi I'm new to the forum so if this topic has been extensively covered I'm sorry. I've just bought a 2007 VW Passat TDI sport estate. When you start it up from cold it's a bit lumpy at idle, but the when it's been left to warm up it's smells quiet bad, like a really old burnt out engine. It'll tickover nicely when warm but there seems to be a lot of black / grey smoke coming out the exhaust. Are these signs of a blocked up EGR valve or something else. Please help, I've only just bought the car and I just hope it's not a lemon cheers Gary 😂

Hi, new here, hope to get some advice. 2017 Passat GT estate, bought used by me November 2020. A neighbour pointed out to me that there appears to be uneven disc wear on both rear discs (see pics) with the wear only in the middle part of the discs. Front discs show even wear all around. He's not a mechanic (neither am I clearly!). I've booked the car into the service dept of the place I bought it from (not a VW dealer). Although now out of their used car warranty, they did service it last so if it has the wrong size of pads fitted it would be their fault. Grateful for any informed insights....

The time has unfortunately come where I need to part ways with my Passat🙁 Repairs are needed on 3 pulleys (viscus bearing has seized), new fan belt and a new water pump and fixings (which houses the aforementioned viscus bearing). The quotes for repair mean it is no longer financially viable for me to keep the car. A new alternator was fitted 12 months ago, alloys are in ok condition and a couple of months ago I had the car Terracleaned by Fuel Rectifiers which cleared years of built up dirt from inside the engine. The engine has a little over 140k miles on the clock but has never caused me any problems. Ideally I would love to sell this to a someone …
