  1. Have you tried some adhesive on the inside of the hose, has worked for me in the past
  2. As far as I remember that is the way to do it safely as takes the stress off the cambelt loosening and tightening the pulley bolt
  3. If the key is proving to be faulty then it is worth replacing but I would go to a specialist automotive locksmith who can programme the key to your car a lot cheaper than a garage, and especially a VW dealership
  4. Not sure but worth checking with your local dealership parts department as they would have images for both models and see if there is any difference in the general shape/size of the rear silencer
  5. I generally use my iPhone as a bluetooth connected device and stream music from YouTube (Premium so that you don't get the adverts) Works on most vehicles I have paired the phone with
  6. Hi Garry. Sorry to hear your sad news. Unfortunately, I do not know of any such club but it is worth asking the local VW dealership as they may some memory of one running out from there in the 70's or even posting on the local facebook groups in the hope that someone may remember this club? Regards, Trevor (admin)
  7. You should be able to set it up in the vehicle settings (see you handbook) If not, then the car has not been setup correctly for the UK roads and I would pop it back to your local dealer for them to have a quick look to see if they can make the setting correct
  8. If there is an imbalance and it disappears over a certain speed then it is a dynamic imbalance in the wheel/tyre and the wheel needs balancing Also, check the tyres are round (e.g. not oval, distorted or has a bulge on the tread area) seen loads like this and causes such an issue
  9. I would take it into the garage for a check over as could be dangerous if knocking (tapping is okay as suggests lighter metallic impact)
  10. Usually there is a plug there within the vicinity of where the lamps would fit
  11. Breakers yard would be the best place to start
  12. I know the inertia switch which trips in an accident can sometimes cause problems but think that only cuts the fuel Have you got fuel to the injectors?
  13. Hi Chris....welcome to the Club The tuneup will definitely help with the torque when towing a caravan as I'm sure you will have already noticed Good to have you onboard!
  14. Hi....welcome to the Club How has it gone with the repairs.....all sorted now?
  15. Hi Shellandcharlie ....welcome to the Club Good to have you onboard!
  16. Hi Andrew.....welcome to the Club Its a fine looking Golf...particularly like the colour Good to have you onboard!
  17. Hi....welcome to the Club I would examine the vehicles' service history and see that it has been carried out correctly and on time. Certainly good oil is an investment for longer turbo life and allowing it to cool down for a while before switching the engine off. Otherwise, it is a chance you take that the previous owner has looked after it properly
  18. Which model is this? electric?
  19. Hi....welcome to the Club I would start by carrying out any essential servicing tasks (ones you can confidently carry out yourself) which enhance the reliability and drivability. After that then its your choice to improve comfort whether thats the suspension or interior? Let us know how it all goes
  20. Not sure but I imagine your local dealer would be obliging enough to guide you in finding the default back to english at no cost
  21. Sounds like it could be the plastic ratchet mechanism on the clutch pedal Have a look under the dash at the top of the clutch pedal and see if there is a white plastic part It should also make a ratcheting noise when you lift the pedal back up If it is this then it needs replacing but is a sod of a job to do unless you are very flexible
  22. I think it may be better to use a scan tool to check the errors and reset the lights from there
  23. Thanks for posting the solution that will be helpful to other members with this issue
  24. Well I suppose if they work and have done for that amount of miles then they should be good to fit. Not sure if you have to code them in though?
  25. Thats a tough one and I can only imagine the best way forward would be to replace the seat with something more suitable to you. Scrapyard would be my first port of call for a replacement seat
